FNV vs F3, questions.

Post » Wed May 18, 2011 7:46 pm

Nope, not complaining about the differences...just need help.

My first experience was with FNV. I finally played through as NCR 2 months ago. I got F3 while doing that and have just started playing it...I notice some intense differences:

1. My FNV 10mm pistol would kill alot of critters with one or two hits...my F3 10mm (and other weapons) are much weaker.

2. Where the heck do you find stuff, get repairs and make money? The only place I've found is Megaton and the options are limited. The "World" seems limited in F3...I find myself scrounging anything I can find. Not a complaint, mind you...if this is the way of the F3 world...so be it. But is there other places to get repairs and buy stuff other than Megaton and the occassional traveling merchant?

3. Speech Checks: I really hate 'em in F3...but that is probably because I am used to FNV's "assured" status...you knew if you were going to pass it or not. In F3 it's a "crap shoot"...you get a percentage of possibility and that's it. Funny...you would think the whole Speech Check gamble would be in FNV?? LOL!

4. Factions. Being an FNV player before an F3 player...I'm confused. From what I can tell...I am a freelancer. I will have no alligiances and I'm on my own. I can only gain respect by being bad or good, and then only gain that respect from people who LIKE bad or good? Does that about covet it?

Again, no complaints about either game...! LIKE THEM BOTH!! I am in my 3rd goround of FNV, as an independant this time, and still learning F3.

Personally, I like F3 better...it's more difficult and living is harder.

Any guidance, however, would be greatly appreciated from this FNV guy.

The weapons were all redesigned for New Vegas. The 10mm is probably my single favorite weapon in New Vegas -- the one in F3 makes me sad.

Check out Rivet City, Underworld and Tenpenny Towers. You'll find help there.

I hate the speech checks in F3. Not crazy about the ones in New Vegas, honestly.

Pretty much. To fully enjoy F3, forget all about faction alliances. The choices in F3 are extremely limited. You may find yourself frustrated.

I love both games, too, and I like that they offer different experiences. Still, I've been playing New Vegas so much it's damned odd to revisit the Capital Wasteland.

I wonder how long until this thread implodes, though? Emotions run high when the two are compared.

Screw em'! Thank you for the concise and simple info, my friend. It was just what I needed. I wish everyone could be so helpfull, you know?

It remains to be seen if I can screw the NCR out of a veteran Ranger Armor...and use it as an Independant. I upgraded my last one after sniping a ranger...and running like heck for miles! It was still there when I came back. But I was NCR at the time...wonder how it will work indy?

I'm working on the Ants in F3, at this moment. 2 More Guardians to go.

Thanks buddy!

So places you can find vendors and repairs were mentioned. though, i would say in F3, get your own repair skill up.
Canterbury Commons is also a good place to check out as you can
Spoiler
invest in the caravans, expanding the caravan inventory, giving you some nifty gifts and also giving the caravaners a higher repair skill

Both are good, but NV is far buggier, slower load times and overall more technically deficient. Hell, my XBox locks up at least once a play session and I have to reset the whole damn thing.

3 has some bug issues but I didn't find a single one until I DLed the expansions.

Nah... It just took so long to submit I hit the button twice. Didn't want to clutter up your thread.
