FO2 Trouble in Vault City with dialog Spoilers

Post » Mon Sep 27, 2010 9:27 pm

After becoming a mad man by the Wright's. I went to the Raiders camp using the map I got from a safe in Bishops place. Killed all the Raiders and then went to VC. The only person I can get to talk to me about wiping out the Raiders is Sgt. Sark. He sends me to see Lynette. I can get no conversation options with her to talk about the Raiders. Nor can I get her to talk about the account book or the holodisc. And no one else in VC will talk to me about any of these.

I'm using the game that came with Fallout Trilogy and have Killap's unofficial patch ver. 1.02.25 loaded.

1. Is there a chance that I missed a trigger some where for this conversation to take place?

Sure would like to finish this game. Don't know how it would effect the game if I ignore this.
Really like the game and I'm trying to play with out a walk through.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't remember anything that could help you but I can ensure you that it won't affect the main quest in any way - in fact, without giving anything away, it's not likely to not be able to finish the game no matter what you do, so you shouldn't worry about that.

Other than that, Lynette is a 'tough' one... there are many fast, easy and fun ways to anger her if you are not extra careful and diplomatic, so is it possible that she just doesn't like you very much?

Thanks. Guess I'll just ignore this part and head for Redding with the antidote. Man don't it just bug you when something like this happens.

I don't remember any quests (aside from the NCR diplomacy ones) in which you could actually make quest progress by going directly to Lynette. Try retracing your steps and see if you missed an important dialog option/item to hand over to Sark or Lynette. My memory is fuzzy, but otherwise I'm not sure what options you have.

Without a doubt. I don't believe any of the potential slavery/xenophobic/NCR debate conversations you can engage in with her end well. At least, for me, being thrown out has always been inevitable. Of course, nothing is more fun than pickpocketing a ticking stick of dynamite on her person and fleeing to the other map section of the town (otherwise NPCs will turn hostile even if you are out of their line of sight).

I'm wondering if taking Bishops quest to kill Westin in NCR, going there and making a better deal with Westin to kill Bishop instead could have caused this. After killing Bishop and returning to Westin, after he gives me my reward, he won't talk to me either.

Did I kill Bishop to soon. Or should I have not taken the quest to kill Westin.

This is going to drive me to drink :foodndrink:

heh... yeah, FO2 is no game for perfectionists unfortunately :D

Here's something that I found in the "Nearly Ultimate Fallout 2 Guide" that might actually be related
(It would be too cryptic for anyone who hasn't played that part so it's hardly a spoiler)

If you have Bishop's Holodisk you can't show it to Lynette until after you give her the Account Book. Importantly, if you have both the book and the disk in your inventory when you report back to Lynette, you miss out on the reward for finding the Account Book and skip directly to Vault City quest 5. So drop the Holodisk first.

So... maybe you don't get to talk to her about the raiders at all if you have the holodisk on you?

I think it has to do with Bishop already being dead. This means that, if I interpreted Lynette correctly, she has no need for you sending a message to a special someone, since the source of the raider threat is long gone. If Bishop were still alive Lynette would have wanted you to seek an ally to make sure Vault City doesn't fall into "some party's" hands.

But I could be wrong. Sorry for being cryptic, don't want to spoil the quest.

That's what I think happened after pondering it for several hours and going back over every thing I've done. I have a saved game when I first got to New Reno, I'm going to try it again and this time not do any of the Bishop quest. I can get the holodisc by sleeping with his wife and get the map to. I'll stop at that point and see what happens. I just won't deliver the briefcase. See what happens.

Thanks

The only thing you're going to miss (other than the quest's item reward, which I think was a motion sensor) is the chance to become captain of the vault city guard (which is difficult as you need to butter lynette up first, and have good charisma). The only thing that being captain of the guard really gets you is the opportunity to put stark in his place.
