FO3 GotY from Steam wont load DLC, sometimes crashes

Hi there,

I've recently bought FO3 GotY from Steam and ran into several issues, such as freezes/crashes. With a little search on the web i could resolve this on my own.

My primary issue now is that it won't activate the DLC, aside from Broken Steel, which is being loaded and shows up ingame "Broken Steel loaded, lvl cap raised to 30".

The others, namely Anchorage, Pitt, Point Lookout won't load somehow. I am not getting the Transmissions from Anchorage or the Pitt, which might be due to the fact that I'm not getting confirmation for the modules to have been loaded either. I've played roughly 40 hours by now, so time spent ingame shouldn't be the issue either.

Also I noticed that sometimes the game crashes when approaching Arlington Library or when I close in to the Virgo II inside the Museum to fetch its dish - this happens in exactly the same spots and ONLY when Broken Steel is active.

Here's what I did so far to fix my problems:

  • I deactivated GFWL using the GFWL-Disabler from ModNexus - works for me, no popups anymore.
  • I edited the .ini to fix crashes to desktop - works fine, except for those 'special crashes' mentioned above.
  • checked if the DLC-files (ESM etc)are inside 'Fallout3\Data\' directory - they are.
  • changed the order of loading with FOMM, so that Fallout3.ESM is loaded first, anchorage second, then the rest of the DLCs
  • All DLCs are checked in FO3's start menu ('Data Files')
  • I have NO Mods installed
  • I already tried starting a new game, wandering around for ~20-30mins there, getting the confirmation for Broken Steel within 3 minutes, rest is dead silent. I also walked down to Red Racer/ Nuka Cola plants to see if I'd catch the transmission for Anchorage there by waiting a bit - nothing.
  • tried reinstalling the game through steam, also deleting everything but the saves from the directories in mydocuments\mygames\fallout

How can I keep the game from crashing in certain locations when Broken Steel is active? And most importantly: How can I get the other DLC to work?
