FO3 will not start?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 6:36 am

I see this is a common theme with FO3 not starting. Well, I just bought it today for the very first time and what do you know, it won't start. Shame on me, for buying it when I originally decided long time ago that I wouldn't because of all the technical problems people were having. Well install was correct and here's my machine, so why doesn't it work?

Card name: Intel® HD Graphics
Manufacturer: Intel Corporation
Chip type: Intel® HD Graphics (Core i5)

Fallout 3 won't run on one of these. The shader requirements are a little too strict and an Intel chipset can't meet those requirements.

Oddly enough, they lowered the shader requirements for New Vegas, so that WILL run on an Intel.

Actually, you are exaggerating, since there are a variety of crappy onboard video solutions from Intel that are pretty much worthless. Only the very latest, which isn't always sold at the bargain prices, will work for Vegas (yes, I know that the so-called "HD Graphics" chip is probably among the ones that "sort of" work for F: NV)..
