Microsoft is the worst with security updates then Adobe and I also have many little programs CC, Glary Util all want to to update weekly.

I know I can go in and turn these updates off individually but is there a simple way, mod maybe, to turn these off while play FO3 or any game for that matter?

Disable/close any program you don't need, and set any updates to not run automatically.

Automatic updates require an internet connection and Fallout 3 does not. If you don't want to turn off auto updated, just disconnect from the internet until you have finished playing.

I don't have any automatic updates enabled. I do get a notification that an update is available.

Yeah, I know about that way. Was hoping for something simpler. If I set the apps to notify me won't they throw up a popup or something like that? I believe this kind of notice is what's giving me a CTD.

I always hear a tone in the headset and CTD to follow.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm still new to gaming with the PC (6 months). I'm using NMM, Steam and using fose for FO3. I thought Steam backed up my game in the cloud or something like that?

If I pull my ethernet cable do you think the steam back up will update when I re-connect?

As you guys can see there's tons of steps to all this. A simple app to put all these apps updates on standby would be so cool.
