FO3edit troubles - - -

I have the FOOK2 .esm here and I am trying to create a standalone Phalanx one out of it by copying things from that .esm into my new one (FO3Phalanx.esp).

Something's gone wrong with some of the dialogue topics and I want to try deleting them and re-adding them, but it won't let me. When I try, I get an error which says:

Error: Can't remove FormID [00300030] from file [03] FO3Phalanx.esp: FormID not registered!!! Errors have occured. It is highly recommended to exit without saving as partial changes might have occured !!!

and if I try to give new form IDs to the records, I get errors like this:

Error: Can't remove FormID [00300030] from file [03] FO3Phalanx.esp: FormID not registeredChanging FormID [00300030] in file "FO3Phalanx.esp" to [0201B48F]Record is referenced by 1 other record(s)Error: Can't remove FormID [00300030] from file [03] FO3Phalanx.esp: FormID not registeredChanging FormID [00300030] in file "FO3Phalanx.esp" to [0201B490]Record is referenced by 1 other record(s)Error: Can't remove FormID [00300030] from file [03] FO3Phalanx.esp: FormID not registeredChanging FormID [00300030] in file "FO3Phalanx.esp" to [0201B491]Record is referenced by 1 other record(s)Error: Can't remove FormID [00300030] from file [03] FO3Phalanx.esp: FormID not registeredChanging FormID [00300030] in file "FO3Phalanx.esp" to [0201B492]Record is referenced by 1 other record(s)Error: Can't remove FormID [00300030] from file [03] FO3Phalanx.esp: FormID not registeredChanging FormID [00300030] in file "FO3Phalanx.esp" to [0201B493]Record is referenced by 1 other record(s)Error: Can't remove FormID [00300030] from file [03] FO3Phalanx.esp: FormID not registeredChanging FormID [00300030] in file "FO3Phalanx.esp" to [0201B494]Record is referenced by 1 other record(s)Error: Can't remove FormID [00300030] from file [03] FO3Phalanx.esp: FormID not registered

and if I try to copy over it again, it doesn't go well...

Can anyone tell me from this what I could try to get rid of these apparently broken records that are in my plugin?

I cannot even save this plugin yet btw... it's like I have to leave my computer on until its fixed, or start all over again. gah.

edit: I've given up for now and closed FO3edit without my save. Will see what comes of my next effort with this.

So I was going to post a way you can usually work around FO3Edits rare bugs that don't let you save and be able to save your work before closing so you dont lose everything but I can't remember how and couldn't find it in my post history (I know I said how once before) so yea... wouldn't have helped for this occasion anyway since you already closed it.

You could try it again, save and reopen and see what the damage is. Trying to rename/renumber things when you've still got the mod it was dependent on open is a bit of a bugger.

Ah so.... yeah I had wondered if maybe this was an FO3edit glitch. So maybe it is?

meh.

I know what was blowing the heck out of it at least. The main thing was that there was something about certain dialogue topics I was overwriting (hit, attack, and one other). I have suspected for some time that FO3edit is doing something not quite right with PNAMs - maybe its doing stuff that was right for oblivion but not FO3. Can't say for sure.

Then I tried removing those problem records and.... well, it hit the fan.

If FO3edit has left an error log, maybe I should send that stuff to Elminster.
