Just wanted to drop in and say Hi to uncle fuzzy. Wish I could say you are getting a new member, but I already belong to a team, I do however have a passion for Elder Scrolls and foldng.

Haha! Uncle Fuzzy, the only reason I knew he'd started folding again was because of your post at my forum. He said he didn't tell me he'd started because he wanted to see how long it would take before I noticed. It took five days. If you hadn't posted, who knows how long it would've taken before I noticed. Of course, he did it in a stretch where I was working 12-hour days and just didn't check anything on Folding stats...the little stinker! You should've seen his Cheshire cat grin when I called him out for not telling me.

I give it 10 days or less before he passes me. I do folding on my work computer and my gaming computer, but his one gaming comp is better than both of mine. Something about that just ain't right! I think it's time to upgrade this puppy. Of course, Windows 7 will have to run Morrowind or else it won't be happening.

Wasn't your last upgrade a hand-me-down from his last upgrade? I seem to remember a post....

Sorry no pics, but I promise it really happened. I wouldn't lie about something like that.

And yes, his last upgrade was a hand-me-down and upgraded me. It's a pretty good computer and technically speaking, I don't really need a better one since I only play Morrowind and some games on Facebook. But I do wish I could do more effective folding. Oh well, that's the way it goes.

If your motherboard and power supply can handle it, put a killer nVidia card on your birthday wish list. Nothing pretentious, maybe a GTX295. :P

Hilarious! My pockets aren't that deep though. I can think of a lot of things I would rather do with the $510 + tax/shipping it would cost to get that puppy and none of it has anything to do with computers. I would rather use that kind of money to make the improvements that we would like for our house.

I can fantasize about it though. Some people fantasize about six. Some people fantasize about wealth. I fantasize about outrageous gaming systems, among other things...including wealth and se---oh never mind. :P

O......M......G, I finally got the blasted SMP client to work on my 3.65Ghz q9550. :celebration: It would always run the single CPU client no matter what I did. Then fail to send what it did do. :brokencomputer: (I have yet to get that far this round, cross your fingers.) It simply pissed me off to no end so I just gave up. It seems the only thing I did differently this time was instead of -smp -verbosity 9 in the flag setup section, I put -verbosity 9 -smp. It now runs all 4 instances of the proper core.

Now I have to get all those other programs to delay starts, and to move the icons to the taskbar. (Unfortunately it makes all command windows minimize when I first open them, but I don't use it to much anyway so no biggie.)

I guess I'll slap the GPU client on to, so my 5870 can do some work to. P.S. Seems it's not supported on the 9.12 -hotfix drivers. :(

I have slipped down to 15th place. :( (I was 7th at one time I believe.)

Maybe I'll add it to my friends PS3 to. (Seeing I helped pay for it, I doubt he'll mind.)

Here's to folding again. :foodndrink:

I am now using it on my PS3, but it wouldn't let me add a space to my name, so I might show up as Mr.O or nova-ngc17... no idea which. But yeah, that's me!

Me to, though it not being mine, I had to set it to auto-shutoff after 2 hours. My friend is worried about the heat it produces. I've tried to put his mind at ease by telling him it is perfectly safe to run the PS3 24/7. Hell, maybe I can convince him to run it up here, I have no form of heat in the attic, (Besides my electric blanket.) and could use the extra heat source.

I'm hoping he runs it enough that it completes, and sends the WU's in on time.

Good morning, boys and girls. We're still at #147. Unless we can get our production bumped up a little, it looks like we may get pushed back above 150 in the next month. Perhaps we can all PM our inactive team mates and ask for a few WUs. If you do so, please don't be annoying. :nono:

Hhm, so, I had to reinstall Windows, and F@H.

I just started it up, and it says it's running the 85% I set it to, but the 4 FahCore_a1.exes are not in Task Manager. I only have the Folding@home-Win32-x86.exe.

It was running all 4 before the reinstall.

Here is the log. What the hell am I running????

P.S.

Codebox breaks the forums format so sorry for long post but it beats being broken.

Well, everything looks right, so far. That's a pretty standard smp log. Does the log advance from there? Have you tried to stop, wait a minute, and restart it? Did you get the correct MPI message at the very top of the log?

Yup, it's at 16% now.
Yes.
Yup.

Core Temp shows all 4 cores @ 85%. Strange about the 4 missing exes, I'm stumped. (If it were a new client I could understand but this is the same build as last time.)

I have to salvage my 82% completed WU from before. (I fold on a separate drive from the OS, and I made a copy before reinstall W7 anyway.) I know I should have just waited for it to finish but it was late and I wanted to start W7 before it got any later. I copied it in, and I think it may have sent in what was there, after I tried to run F@H for the first time. (I got some error/complaining.)

I dont know about W7, but for XP and Vista, make sure you check the box to show processes from all users. Ive heard of people losing track of some of the folding precesses when the box isn't checked.

I have my laptop running it now, and I tried setting up nFoldMan but I couldn't find the client program's path. I assumed it would be in ~/Library, but it wasn't there. And my PS3 is still going strong.

Judging by your sig, and the fact I have no idea what you're talking about, you have a Mac, so someone else will have to answer your questions. Hey, Dogsbody, you here?

I just ordered my new mobo and will hopefully have my e6850 (Will OC to 3.6+.) folding by weeks end. On top of my 3.6Ghz q9550.

I wish I could convince my friend to let the PS3 run. :( I may have to get my own.
