Folgunthur Lever Puzzle (NOT WORKING)

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2016 5:30 pm

Heya fellas! Need some help here... It seems I'm unable to get past the lever-puzzle, simply because none of the walkthrough-videos or the guide(s) are correct (for me). I tried 1st left + 2nd right & 1st + 2nd left & 2nd right, but neither allows me to open all four gates at the same time.. I also tried randomly selecting levers to pull, but I just can't figure it out...

If it helps, the closed gate when I pull the levers Left 1 & Right 2, is the 4th one.

is that the one where you're in a small hallway with 2 pillars on each side, and a bandit at the lever that dies in the trap when you arrive?

if so: just take a closer look, there's keystones with the solutions behind the pillars :-)

Uhm, no... it's the Gauldur-quest, Forbidden Legend. 3 amulet pieces, 3 dungeons (or something), 3 sons (I guess?) of Gauldur. You end up earning the Gauldur-amulet, Gauldur Blackblade & Gauldur Blackbow (I think that's what they're called..)

Basically, you're in a hallway where you have to pull certain levers to open 4 gates in a specific way of order. No bandits or stones as far as I know

First make sure the levers are reset (all down), then the 1st left and 2nd right should work.

Trust me buddy, I've tried. For some weird reason, it simply won't work! I know it should, 'cuz I've done the quest on a different character.. Yet, as I've already stated, it doesn't.

The first one didn't have much info, but the second did. I'll try it when I get home (currently at work). Thanks for the help!

If you're on PC, and all else fails, you can use the console to input tcl (toggle collision off), walk through the gate with it closed, and then re-input tcl to turn collision back on.

Nuupe, didn't work... -.-' I always end up with the 4th gate closed...

If anyone are able to find a pattern, let me know! Starting position; Gate 1-3 closed, gate 4 open.

Left lever 1 opens: 2 & 3

Left lever 2 opens: 3

Right lever 1 opens: 1, 3 & 4

Right lever 2 opens: 1 & 4

I just did Folgunthur on a girl this afternoon. Let me see if I've got a save game from just before the levers.

You're in luck: I have a save before she started on the levers:

All levers down == all gates down which is where you start. Now, my method for this (because I just don't always remember the lever puzzles well) is to activate the right back and left back levers first (that is, closest to the character). This opens gates 1, 3 and 4.

Then I activate both front levers, which closes gates 1 and 4.

Finally, I activate right back lever, and then left front lever - which opens all gates.

Lmao, and here I was, wondering why it took an hour to check! Well, from the looks of it, it won't work for me, but I'll test it in a minute.. Just need to finish a quest :)

Didn't work... Only difference from my other attempts, is that 1st gate is now closed, instead of 4th...

That's.... just weird. I've used that exact sequence on - um - probably 500 toons over the years I've played the game. Look, do you have a save before you ever touched a lever? Maybe on the console version it's a problem if you don't start with a virgin sequence?

UGH. But.... can you just load it, and see if that sequence works with the vanilla levers-down setting? Ack.... I don't even know if you load an old save on a console, does it screw things up? I mean, can you load an old save like that, and still keep the level 25 save so you can go forward from there?

Eesh.... the major issue here is that I have NO clue about how things work on game consoles!

Eh.... wow. I've played TES games since Arena, plus every one since. I played Skyrim at release for - maybe a year. And I've played it off and on since, in between WoW, Rift, and Pillars of Eternity. But right now, Skyrim is once again my game of choice.

The most amazing thing is I still get surprised. I find things I've never seen before, no matter how many girls (A LOT) I've run through the game....

That's one of the reasons why I absolutely love this game; there's always something to discover! ... Unless you've played it so much that you've literally discover everything there is to discover.
