I followed GamerPoet's TESEdit tutorial, but...

Post » Tue Sep 22, 2015 11:34 am

...LOOT still reports 3 unclean edits for Update.esm. I'm sure I did everything right by carefully following the tutorial.

(As for why I'm posting this question here instead of under the YouTube video, is because I can't post comments on YouTube anymore. I guess the YouTube staff don't have anything better to do for their money than keep messing around with the features).

I used Gopher's tutorial. Can you link GamerPoet's? I just want to see if they use the same steps.

Well with the current version of TES5Edit it's a no brainer. Just load the master, set "Apply filter for cleaning" and remove identical to master and undelete records.

Also for me LOOT reports ITMs in ELFX, but when i try to clean it, Edit finds no ITMs nor deleted records. One of them must be wrong

LOOT has no way of checking for ITMs or Deleted References, it relies on user input, so It sounds like someone provided the wrong CRC when reporting the mod to the LOOT team

Ah, i wondered how it did it. But in that case it is not the same issue as the OP has, as i suspected.

BTW, Dawnguard must be cleaned twice. Somehow the first clean reveals more ITMs.

I was wondering if I should tell OP to clean it twice but I couldn't remember if it was the update file or Dawnguard file that needed that. Could he try cleaning it again, or is it bad to do so on the update file?

It won't break anything. If it doesn't find ITMs or deleted records, trying to clean it again does nothing.

And this probably goes without saying, but the file you're cleaning should be the only one you select to be loaded. Let Edit sort out it's masters.

Yeah, Dawnguard needs to be cleaned twice, as cleaning the ITMs the 1st time results in new ITMs, not sure why exactly, but the *Edit team does recommend it be cleaned twice. I'm fairly certain that only Dawnguard needs to be cleaned twice.

I'll give it another try then. Here is a link to the video:

You mean "Undelete and Disable References", right? That's the only one I find with the word "Undelete" in the menu.

Yep. And the video is right too. Maybe Iriodus is right, someone reported the wrong info on accident to the LOOT team.

Any other way to find out is to play the game and if you don't notice any odd issues with bugs, lag, crashing, etc. then it is possible it may be a false report. Not saying that is the solution, just testing the waters.

Well, this is strange. I'm doing the same steps again but this time TES5Edit don't seem to be doing anything to Update.esm. The date of the file hasn't changed. Also when I click the X to close TES5Edit I don't get the popup window shown at 5:00 in the video, asking me to save the changes, and LOOT still reports the three uncleaned edits like before.

The game has been running fine though.

Hmmm, weird...

Maybe wait a few days and hopefully LOOT's list will get updated, but as for TESVedit, that is strange...If the game is happy, then it is happy  Just keep a eye on it and post here again if anything comes up!

Are you using the latest version of TES5Edit v 3.1?

If you cleaned it earlier, that is exactly what should happen. It didn't do any changes so there's nothing to save.

3.1? I've missed some updates then

If something in LOOT's masterlist does need changing, could someone summarise what that is in a post in LOOT's thread? I'm less likely to forget about it that way.

I have had clean files for a while now, and I just ran LOOT again just to make sure something I missed was updated. Everything came out clean still, even the update file. So it is a good chance it is not even a false report and it is on the OP's side, but sorry if I was making it sound that way

Yes, I have 3.1. I guess I'll forget about it for now, since I haven't found any problems with the game yet.
