I was traveling through the forest at one point with DB inniate and we encounterd a troll. I used my poisons on it and sure enough it died. But after i realised i needed more river betty to make more poisons as i was running low.

So when i jumped into the river below me sure enough the follower didnt jump with me, giving me some alone time to swim and fish while she traversed the mountain (much to my amusemant) halfway through fishing i saw a red dot slowly start to get bigger and then i saw the outline of a slaughterfish, i was actually scared becuase i was deep in water and had no way to fight it. As it was just about to come and chew my face of the screen went bright red and the screen shook. I lost half of my health and dragged myself to the nearby shore. while irl scratching my head at what they hell had just happened i see my follower at the edge of a far away cliff holding a staff id given her ages ago. I actually smiled and found my love for the game strengthend again.
