I'm sure this has been asked a dozen times, but my search-fu is weak, and I haven't been able to find anything exactly like it.

When I give a follower equipment (I've tried it with Aela, Lydia and Jenassa,) they equip it for a second, then it vanishes from their model as well as from their inventory. These are substantial upgrades to what they're currently using.

I'm playing on PC, so console and so on is available.

I'm using UFO, but I've tried it disabled and enabled (and toggled between the two).

UFO has been known to be glitchy n general, and just disabiling might not fix it completely. you would have to try it on a fresh save before the mod was installed, or uninstall it and try it on a new game.

Is there a better mod available? I like the functionality of UFO, but I'll be the first to admit it has it's share of issues.

AFT, amazing follower tweaks has nearly everything UFO has and more. The only thing is that AFT does not have the immersive follower related dialogues and instead uses the dialogue as more of a menu.
