All right, so for a long while, my follower was Jenassa. Seeing as she was pretty skilled at archery, I gave her auriel's bow. We got attacked by a dragon, and I dispatched of it pretty quickly. (We were in soltheim by the way). I fast traveled back to skyrim, and janassa was not by my side, in the house, or in the drunken huntsman. To make matters worse, she is not inside the hall of the dead. I could care less about Jenassa, I just want my bow back. Any suggestions?

How much time has passed since you noticed her missing?

Sometimes I see her standing at the bottom of the steps to Dragonsreach.

This is why I never give Followers any weapons or armor that is unique. Or expensive.

Not a wise decision to leave a priceless artifact with a follower mortal.
