This mod adds a command to most companions in the game that lets them chill out and relax instead of standing at attention all the time.

To do this, just talk to your companion and choose the topic "We'll stay here for a while." They will start interacting with the environment (eat, drink, sit, ect). To get them to start following you again, just talk to them and say "Let's go."

NEW VERSION 4: (Skyrim should be updated to latest version)

Uninstall other versions before installing this one!

Allows you to put up to 10 followers into 'wander mode' (must have a multiple follower mod installed for this to work).

All vanilla followers should have voiced responses now. Dogs should be treated differently from people.

Dark Brotherhood followers should have dialog now.

Future plans:
- Voiced lines from vanilla followers
- Getting the Dark Brotherhood followers to work without resorting to console commands
- Resolving issues with spouses Should be fixed. Thanks Lederberg!
- Equip clothing when package is set
- Maybe some alternate AI packages (such as ingredient collecting or actual mining)
- A way to reset or summon followers that are wandering

Incompatibilities:
As of now, I know of none.

I would love this, because then I could make Lydia pick up my burdens for me in addition to carrying them.

FYI, do you know how to use shared infos? Those might be useful for voice acting snippets, though I'd imagine that, in order to reach such a diversity of voices, the lines chosen might be a bit too generic. Still voiced, though.

Any mod that introduces even the remotest possibility that housecarls will do something other than sit on a chair and gawk at my character while she sleeps is okay in my book.

Just out of curiosity, how long do followers stay in wander mode? Is there a time limit like regular waiting?

Sounds delightfully like the start of the possibility to have a full household or fortress with NPC performing meaningful, designed tasks...

Seriously, why do they always have to sit by your bed? Bethesda had the foresight to add spare bedrooms in all the houses that only are decorated if there's a housecarl in the house, yet I've never seen one actually go in their room, much less sleep. I do notice though that they also put chairs by your bed in all the houses (I think I've gotten them all now) and it always seems to be any given housecarls favorite spot.

At Honeyside, I *had* Iona living in the house and she'd always seem to be in the way in the small upstairs. If I wanted to cook some food (I use a food mod so I need to eat) she's using the cooking pot. If I need to go in a storage bin, she's standing right by it. Then I happened to wander in her room while I was downstairs and checked the stand next to her bed and I found a bunch of "flawless" gems in there.. oddly enough I have a large store of them in my nightstand. Suffice to say, Iona now sleeps in her own bed in her own room... permanently. :shifty:

God yes. I've actually commanded Lydia to sleep in her own bed... I get the "Can't do that, Sir" response. The bed is an owned bed, but owned by whom?

She always yawns yet won't sleep when I tell her to go home and if I tell her to lay down in (my) bed, then I try to go to sleep, she just lays down and gets right back up. I know the yawning is probably just a random idle animation, and sleeping wouldn't really give her any benefits, but that kind of thing can be a slightly annoying.

New version is up that should fix spouse issues.

I would love this, because then I could make Lydia pick up my burdens for me in addition to carrying them.

Hunting?
They sleep if there is an unowned bed around. People have been using the portable campsite mod to do that. I personally haven't tried it.

Hunting would be iffy.

No I do not know how to use shared info. I was planning on reusing appropriate files for each vanilla follower. It would be tedious and take forever which is why I haven't done it yet.

No time limit.

Great idea. I just need to find out where I put Lydia. I dismissed her and she vanished.

And Shadowmere. How does one lose a horse?

Actually, that's a request for a future update: a "reset positions" command for lost followers.

I commanded her to sleep in her own bed once in Breezehome and she did do it, but as soon as I exited command mode she just got right back up. I've literally never seen her leave my bedroom without being ordered to, but sometimes she gets stuck in a weird loop where she constantly gets up and sets back down in her chair repeatedly. What's up with that?

Lol, I could try adding that. What happened with Lydia? Did you dismiss her while she was in wander mode?

Shared infos are easy -- there's a dropdown box at the top of every piece of dialogue. Pick one, and the text will change to that and it will share the line's lip synch and voice. Shared infos are under the "misc" tab in the dialogue window.

There are a number of generic ones under WIShared, I believe, which might suit your purposes.

You can see an example in MS02. Look at Braig's story dialogue.

What are some good follower mods that have been proven compatible with this one? Obviously a multiple follower mod is in order, but a mod that allows you to access and change a follower's default equipment would be nice as well.

Yeah, I have that exact bug in my game, so it seems to be a pretty common occurrence. Kind of annoying and makes you wonder how I find stuff in a couple hours of play that their Q/A team apparently didn't find during the whole dev cycle...

I would say they should fire and replace their Q/A people but maybe that's a little harsh. I dunno, I worked as a programmer for several years with a very thorough Q/A dept and those guys found everything, so I started thinking like a Q/A tester and doing alot of testing before I released my code to them just to catch anything obvious. Sure, a Point of Sales,Inventory&Accounting package is not the same as a video game, but I could have found most of these bugs, regardless. Heck, probably just by "playing the game" before even doing exhaustive methodical testing. It just seems like alot of things were rushed.

Just for the Record - "Bunnies Slaughtered = 0" :bunny: :hugs:
A reset positions command would be great. And what about companions being able to ride horses? Anyone try to add this functionality yet?

I don't think I know of anyone who *doesn't* have that bug with Lydia.
It's almost as if she was volunteering to be first against Boethia's pillar ;)
I kinda didn't want to do that quest seeing as I like my followers, but Lydia tempts me sorely.

I'm using Better Followers and it's working fine. I did not install the optional dialog file because as stated on the Better Followers page they will not be compatible.

I have not used Move It but I do not see why they wouldn't be. Try it, but make a copy of your save games.
