You're a thief. You don't need followers, they'll break your sneak, and block doors that can be used for get a ways.

If you want to be Sneaky, leave your followers at home.

Janessa, her primary skills are Archery, Light Armor, Block, One-handed,and she will dual wield. She will also make comments related to being sneaky.

The Dark Brotherhood initiate is a great follower, they have a max level of 100...their primary skills are One-handed, Sneak, Archery, Light Armor.Only thing I don't like about them is they follow too close and push your character around, which can svck when you are trying to line up a bow shot...they can also push you off a cliff and jump off themselves...annoying.

She's doing a good job when i take her , i just use her as a bait to keep the distance

I wont take a warrior to tank them because he would totally ruin the sneaking

My thief would have his followers wait outside as the lookout. They do get in the way when you're trying to be sneaky.

I don't use followers often with my thief, but every now and then i will bring Ghorbash the iron hand as a body guard. I like to role play that I'm a wealthy retired thief.

I would go with Janessa or Eola maybe?

Like the aforementioned bodyguard idea, they are handy when running/riding down the rode and not sneaking. They are great "loot-mules" as well.

You can also have a follower go with part way in a dungeon, tell them to wait, go sneak kill and loot and if all goes well go back and bring them further, repeat, or leave them just inside the entrance. If you get busted and aren't great at melee run back to your follower, but you would have to move them to the next cell in large dungeons. I like to leave them a little ways back.

If you are on PC, there are a couple of mods on Nexus to make some members of the TG into followers.

My thief always goes alone on pure thieving jobs, like burglary and such. But he uses followers in dungeons - Jenassa, Marcurio, Sapphire and (somewhat surprising to me) Vorstag (who can't sneak, but his fighting style matches mine. I imagine him as the big brute of the company).

Right now he's in Solstheim with Sapph and Jen. Lucky for him. Those girls kick ass!

Depending on your level I'd say leave the extra pockets outside that's what I do when I'm a thief an I don't own a horse yet after all you need someone to carry your loot or you need my armour off the old gods the carry weight enchantment on that is enough that you could 20 dungeons of everything from loot to clutter an you could still carry 200 Dragon bones without a problem.

Only downside the armour is forsworn so until I make custom unique armour an weapon to go with it an the quest to obtain it I leave it for when I want some fun because it's overpowered enough that as a level 1 I owned whiterun only downside so far is that your weak as hell to mages well spells in general after all even gods have weaknesses lol.

I made my own custom follower...however, i still don't bring him into buildings when I'm sneaking around. Usually just leave him at the entrance until I'm done.

Depend, found that an melee character as Lydia works pretty well as tank for an archer, Aela tend to hang to far back to be useful for tanking and she will easy get stuck as the path finding is unable find an way too you.

Naturally if you want to do backstabbing you want to be alone, also then stealing in towns.

Also then you reach higher levels an archer tend to be overpowered so you hardly need followers for more than pack mules.

I usually only bring the follower with me if I intend on exploring the world on foot. Need someone to watch my back you know.

However, when I enter a dungeon or robbing a house, I always leave them at the entrance to the dungeon or at the nearest inn.
