If I were you I'd just try again, and if that doesn't work I'd uninstall FOMM and then try and install the latest version. Latest version is probably on the Nexus website or, at the very least, there is a link on the FOMM page to a personal website that hosts the latest version.

Could it be a load order problem, i tried again and it didn't work and FOMM doesn't have any new versions.

Oh, I figured it wasn't a BOSS autosort update I figured the error was just a new version you were updating to. Yah, I went and tried to update mine and I got a crash as well. Just ignore it and play and they'll have it sorted out themselves by the time they make the next update for the template, which is very often.

Oh Ok, my game seems to crash like when i shoot weapons too much or during loading screens. Could this be a problem with ram and power supply.

How often does it crash in a usual 15 minutes of game play?

What type of ram do you have? What wattage does your Power supply give out?

What was your video card again? I forgot if you told me. What cpu do you have, what windows version, what CPU. Can't really tell you less I know.

yes just about every 15 mins.

ATI 5850 gfc I have 6 GB RAM and I know my Power Supply is terrible, one of the biggest flaws with my comp. I have Windows 7.

Cpu (I think this is what it is): AMD Phenom™ II X6 1045T Processor 2.70 GHz.

Open up the fallout.ini file in: My Documents\My Games\Fallout3
Find the line:

bUseThreadedAI=1
Add another line after it and insert:

iNumHWThreads=2

This will limit the game to 2 cores and prevent the engine bug from causing the game to freeze. (Source: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-1328904.html)

________________

I believe I've heard that AMD has some special software or BIOS setting that it allows you to under-clock the cores that aren't in use automatically while simultaneously over-clocking the cores that are in use.

Due to the fact that it has long been noted that Fallout hates Quad cores, I can only assume it hates hecta-cores as well. Ergo you should limit it to using two CPU's.

Make sure that your iNumHavokThreads=

is set to iNumHavokThreads=2

Finally (at least finally for our CPU discussion), it would be in your best interest to look into that AMD CPU overclocking thing I mentioned.

______________________________

Regarding your video card -- it is perfectly fine.

_______________________________

Regarding your PSU (Power supply, why there's a U at the end I have no idea)Edit: Ah yes, probably stands for "Unit".

Regarding your PSU, what wattage does it put out? If you don't have the box it came with anymore then I can't think of a way to figure that out without opening up your computer case and looking at it from inside, and even then it might not be visible from that direction (who knows what side that put the information on).

But I'd say for your RIG you need at least a 550 watt power supply. I'm not some sort of computer genius by any means though. When it comes to PSU's I generally prefer to get the ones that put out a lot of watts so they are futureproof for when I get new computer hardware though, plus then you never have to worry if the problem is your power supply like you are now:)!

But me personally, I have a Video card that's similar to yours in price, so I can assume it has similar specs, so I can assume it draws similar amounts of power. These are all assumptions though.

I can also say that my CPU is only a dual core, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's drawing less power because one of the goals of newer CPU's as they come out is to reduce power consumption, or at the very least increase performance while keeping power requirements the same.

So I'd assume you can get by with the same wattage PSU I have. If you have anything less, then it *might* be a problem for you -- but it wouldn't be causing crashes in your game -- it would probably be causing more noticeable problems, like your computer shutting itself off for no apparent reason. If you touch the back of your computer where your PSU is it should be fairly warm, but if it's really hot then you have a problem.

____________________________________________________________________

OK, seeing as you have 6 gigabytes of RAM one of the things that could help you both with performance and stability is called "Large address aware enabler"

Tell me if you have used that on your game, because if you have not, then your game will crash once it reaches around 1.75 gigabytes of ram usage. No problem with your mods or your hardware, it's just a game fault. You can fix it with what I just mentioned though.

........................................

It will also increase performance though! Because it should let you use more than 2 gigabytes of ram. It won't do so with people who have 4 gigs and under, but with 6 it will probably take advantage of your added RAM.

KK. Good luck.

You might not want to run Fellout with enhanced rain/snow.

Also, you're running an old version of Darnified UI if you're still using the "Extras" esp. Version a11 is what you should get. And if you already have it then the DUIF3Extras.esp is not needed.

Your merged patch ought to be last in your load order.

The last 3 mods that won't allow you to move from the bottom -- I've never had that problem. Did you run Master update on them? If not then that might be the reason why. Scratch me saying I'd never had the problem -- because I have had that problem if I didn't run master update on newly downloaded mods.

Other than that the most important thing for you to do is use the *process of elimination* to figure out if it is a mod error.

First thing I want you to try is to load the game with ONLY fallout3.esm loaded up, and see if your crash persists. If it doesn't persist than you have a mod problem and can use the PoE to figure it out form there.

wheres a11 darn, I found his website and it said newest version a10 so I downloaded. What other mod has rain in it, bcs enhanced rain and snow is all I could find. I can't play the game without Fellout so I'm screwed huh. *sigh* :brokencomputer:

the darn I downloaded came from here: http://www.gamesas.com/?showtopic=984736

Edit: ran a new merged patch and the mods on the bottom moved to where I want them. If this doesn't work I will destroy my game lol, I've done more fixing and stuff then playing.

Edit: [censored] this game, now everytime I load a save it crashes. :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer:

Aight well first guess is that you somehow screwed up the merged patch process.

Remember that the merged patch process and the master update process are two seperate processes and that you should run the merged patch first and the master update process second (because the merged patch you create will "need" to be master updated -- it's probably true that 99% of this crap is just player superstition but hey, do what everyone else says to do and you'll be the perfect human).

Remember also that you need to delete your old merged patch before creating the new one and then name the new one the same name as the old one.

If none of that works for you, we can try having you download a program called "Crossloop" which will allow me to view your screen and take over your mouse via the internet to do the process for you. I won't have access to your computer except under your supervision and while you are logged in to crossloop and specifically choose to start a session with my specific username, it can also be password protected and after you are done you can uninstall the software and that will be it. Sounds freaky and unsafe but it is not.

As for DarnUI you can find the most recent download on this very forum somewhere if you do a search! Just look for his latest thread. I'm in super lazy mode right now or I'd search it out for you lol.

Lol, it does sound extremely unsafe. I'll figure this out. I'm narrowing it down to a mod conflict that FO3edit somehow can't fix. I also have to find a new rain mod :( or a new Fellout.

edit: on the description of http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6170 it says it works best with Fellout, but you said it doesn't.

I mentioned it where you had commented elsewhere on the Fellout issue, try out http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10607 in place of Fellout - has rain and accomplishes a similar goal to Fellout in regards to lighting. I've used it for awhile now and swear by it being my favorite weather mod for FO3

Alright, I'm installing it now, I also have to reinstall EW because that part confused me. So instead of deleting Fellout I did EW.

Edit: So [censored] pissed, I load a save, crash, I install new mods to replace the old ones, crash. God damnit why the hell isn't this working.

I would say consider taking a breather, step back, and maybe start fresh if you have to (I can't tell you how many times I had to do that when getting started with mods).

See if things run with a new game too, might just be an issue with the save

Hey, sometimes a particular save can become corrupt, so try a different one.

Also I thought I mentioned I wasn't positive about the fellout thing but it was late at night so maybe I didn't.

I suggested you try dynamic weather before as well, but it's not what's causing your crash for sure. Sounds like you're missing a master to one of your mods, or you have a corrupt save game.

You may be able to salvage the save game still - I don't have much experience with this, as I am still new to the Fallout/Modern Gamebryo scene (I did stuff back on Morrowind, never played Oblivion) - and in Morrowind you can save corrupt save files sometimes so I imagine the principle carried over to some degree.

Basically, what I am saying, try not to be too down about it. Fallout (especially with mods) is re-playable as a game can be really, and if you keep the save around you might just be able to jump back to that old game at some point (then you'll have two characters your invested in).

Glad things are working out for you and running smooth now though :D

Look for quicksave.fos.bak

if your quicksave ever becomes corrupt again.

Then simply delete quicksave.fos and change the name of quicksave.fos.bak to quicksave.fos

Make sure you download ASU or CASM (I prefer asu)

Return to Fallout 3
