Is it legal to play game FOnline 2238 which is Fallout Online? I dont know this game, can someone tell me more about it.

Why wouldn't it be legal?
It's basically a FO2 mod..
And besides if it were illegal Beth would have already destroyed it.
You as a gamer, hardly are ever liable for playing a game, even if that game would be deemed illegal.

Someone told me that Bethesda don't allow to modding Fallout 2 and this FOnline include files from Fallout 2 game, so can I play this game?

Wrong. It does not have files from Fallout 2. It uses elements of the game, but you MUST have Fallout 2 installed to be able to play the mod. It's like saying any of Fallout 3 or New Vegas's mods are illegal because they use elements of the game, but still requires the game itself.

Ok, so if I have a installed Fallout game I don't worry, all is legal. So FOnline is legal project because they don't give in client Fallout 2 files, right? If it's legal we can close this topic.

Its technically more than a mod. Its a fan made program that uses fallout 2 assets that you must own.

I didn't think Bethesda owned Fallout 2 yet. They just owned the name I thought.

Well considering there are official Fallout 2 modding tools and it's modding community is pretty active I don't see why Bethesda would say they can't mod Fallout 2, mostly because they don't own Fallout 1 and 2, at least not right now.

It has nothing to do with Interplay's "Fallout Online."

FOline 2238 is a fan made mod that was being made before Bethesda even owned the rights to Fallout. There are alot of mods out there for the original Fallouts. To bad there aren't that many for Fallout Tactics

Also several months back a bunch of us Dinosaurs got together and created topics about it and were playing it. The Mods didn't have any problems with that. So I am sure it's all cool with Bethesda. I also don't think the people behind the mod are making money off it.

I stopped playing it after the last wipe. I couldn't get back on even with all the updates, but I have heard it's even harder now, and it was very hard to play before.

Fan made mods are perfectly legal.
