1. Ok, so I just downloaded Fonline client and the latest update.
2. I have faction001.dat and faction003.
3. But faction003 is in png, how do I change it to dat? If someone has the faction003.dat file which isn't png could you upload it for me?
4. Do I need to have fallout 1 installed aswell?
5. I think I have the correct server IP: 94.103.87.42 and port 2238. This is the correct one right?
6. I'm on vista, do I need to deactivate UAC? Do I need to shutdown my firewall?
7. Could someone link me to faction002.dat?
8. When I currently log in it says: Connecting to server. It was not possible to be connected to the server.

I can't register on NMA's forum becuse they don't allow hotmail to be used as a valid email adress becuse of spam.
Therefor I only have this forum to go to.
If there's someone who can help me with these issues I would be grateful(?).

This is a fallout 2 mod btw so It fits in this forum right?

You only need Fonline and the critter and master dats from FO2. The server may have been down when you attempted to connect; you can check the health of the servers here:

I've tried out the updater, it worked fine for the first three files, Faction001 FOnline and DX9.exe, but at Faction002 it says
Begin checking...
Receive faction002.dat 27312835 bytes.
And It's been like this for an hour on 94.103.87.42 4040 and for at least 20 minutes on 4041 and 94.103.86.46 4040.
Is it stuck or something?

Are you in game? I preferred it when it was a closed beta. Everyone kills you for loot. They don't even stop to gloat. They kill you and walk on.

I'm ingame at the moment yes. I heard it was hard on newbies but this seems ridiculous.

Ain't got no weapon to kill stuff to gain exp to level up to gain health to fight better things and gain better items.
I just got done shoveling [censored] in Broken Hills, I got enough money to buy a 10mm pistol or whatever it's called and 24 rounds.
I was really happy that I finally got a freakin' gun. Then I got killed by some random Bootlegger with a knife...

I found my first primitive tool and I thought "I can finally go mine some wood and ore an possibly put together a weapon.
Well, I didn't, got killed.

After I lost my pistol I found 3 dead wastlanders and 2 radscorpion tribes fighting one another, I got myself a spear a healing potion and 3 radscorpion tails.
When I entered New California Republic, some [censored] one-shot-crit-hit me with a SMG of some sort. I died, and lost my items again.

I'm thinking of creating an unarmed one instead. That way I don't have to be like "NOOO I LOST MY WEAPOOON!!!" everytime I die.

I just run away from everyone now and I don't get killed so much. Never go into a building when other people are around, as they block you in a PK you. I have been shoveling brahmin poop for cash to, but can't stay alive long enough to save for a gun.

I made it to level one running away from encounters using outdoorsman and healing my self. You can't trust anyone. There are no nice players by the looks of it.

More problems: Connection established, authentication...

What does that mean?

Yea just noticed it too, need to start a new character though. The last two were complete [censored].

After playing for two days I gotta ask, how the hell are you suppose to advance in this game?
I got my new character, it's fine, special and stat wise.
But I can't do anything, if there's more than 3 pig-rats I have to run for my life.
I can't get ahold of any gun whatsoever.
When I finally got my shotgun from the Lil Jesus quest I decided to craft 60 shells.
I got all the ingriedients and when i was just about to craft the actual ammo I got pked, they didn't even take my loot...
So I'm back to square one for the 7th... time...
Is there some unknown hush-hush secret way to advance in this game and not svck becuse I can't get ahold of it at all.
Will continue trying though, ain't gonna be beaten that easily, but some hints and tips would be nice.

Apparently there are less people in San Fran and Hub, so you don't have to worry about PK so much. I levelled up from shovelling [censored]... it aint easy.

Go figure, a bunch of ruthless, disgruntled a-holes in a FALLOUT mmo.

Yeah. I know FO fans have a bad reputation, but Fonline kinda makes me lose faith in humanity. It is the law of the jungle in that game. After playing a few days a met a few nice people, but I would say only 1 out of 20 people have any kind of ethics. A few people even helped me along though and have been very kind. Maybe I am just taking the game to seriously and should be pooning everyone as well, but I have not PKed a single person yet. I will however be hunting down a list of people. I have a mindless tank character as well as a crafter. It seems like the jack of all trades characters are simply open for poonidge as all the mindless PKers go for a stupid PKer build. My tank is rapidly advancing in level and I have excellent armour and a brain smashing sledge hammer. I need to level up some more though as most PKers have insta-kill miniguns and metal armour. I can only make leather armour MK2 right now.

I want to form a clan of PK hunters.

Anyway, I think I got the hang of some [censored] now at least.
Shove poop, get bank account.
Store all money.
Once you have enough, buy weapon and ammo.
Kill Brahmins around NCR.
Set up Tent.
Store all the crap you find aswell as ingriedients for Fix-It.
Then the actual fun begins I guess.

But at the start, it stinks.

Yo, I wanna try this out, but every time I download the updater Its all in unicode so I cant understand sh!t for what it means. What am I supposed to do?

Edit: Aight, Wth. I updated and now it wont start it says "Error, you were using sFall with an incompatible version of fallout."

I relized that I updated Fo2 a while ago with misc mods and sh!t, so I removed them and Reinstalled it, Checking the updates to see if anything needs to be updated on the file. I'll see in a bit, Add me in a sec

Unrar FOnline.rar.
Copy Master.dat and Critter.dat from Fallout 2 folder to FOnline folder.
Copy Updater into FOnline folder.
Run updater.
Open Config.
Press English.
Set Master and Critter file location.
Set IP and port in Net Tab (Config). IP:94.103.87.42 Port:2238
Done.

For anyone who don't know how to install it. Took me a few tries to understand it all.

What next.

Where to go and what to do?
Well, I'd start with New Reno, go to Lil' Jesus, ask for a job, do the quest and you'll get a shotfun and 1500 exp.
Then I guess you should shovel brahmin poop until you have 100 caps (5 per poop, NCR, Broken Hills), open an bank account in Broken Hills (I use that one).
Then keep on shovelin the poop for awhile and store alot of caps until you can afford some gun.
That's as far as I've gotten. I'm pretty clueless of what to do actually

I guess they still don't have copyright laws in Russia.
