Food....nom nom nom

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 10:02 pm

In Oblivion a hunk of venison had the same affect as some strange flower. The line between food and items used for alchemy was blurred a bit too much for my taste. Does any one else think that there should be alchemy AND cooking. So I can grill my mud-crab over the fire pit and actually receive a health boost. This follows into my next point nicely. Will Skyrim have Oblivions health system or fallouts. In fallout I found myself actually scavenging for food, whereas in Oblivion I would simply wait.

Not necessarily a skill, but I would like to cook. Which is confirmed, I believe.

99.9% sure it's confirmed. Not as a skill though (Like wood cutting)

Cooking is confirmed to be in. Don't think it'll be a skill though.

I don't why it needs to be a skill, but as for being able to cook stuff - yeah, its been confirmed

I'd expect it to be similar to Fallout New Vegas. Bring ingredients to a campfire, and - voila - you can make tasty dishes

wait....if it is not a skill than what is it??? Will we actually get to combine different ingredients. If anyones ever played runscape it would be cool if it was a system similar to this.

also what is woodcutting good for?

Wrong. Not a skill. Just a way to make money.

So cooking would just be a way to make food.

The http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4lrm97dBqNo/TUFlf8E0PZI/AAAAAAAAAYM/zpU1C-tvpWw/s1600/artofskyrim_004_town.jpg does show what appears to be ovens and fish cooking in them. So maybe cooking will be included.

I must've heard wrong. Here's Todd saying that cooking is in, but isn't a skill.

I haven't heard about a woodcraft skill myself. That craft on the end of the screenshot it more likely speechcraft (or its mercantile merged counterpart)

It's not a skill. It's an activity like smithing, mining, cooking, and farming.

Lets just hope its more usable.

Or easier to find ingrediants. Or just not so many high quantities of ingrediants.

In real life its a skill, in the game world, its not a designated skill to the PC.

That would be pretty neat though... Imagine a failed meal, and the PC says, "Eewh" and spits (and gains less from it). ~It would be neat for a few minutes anyway.

*I would not be surprised to find anything done in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiM3zn9qzis&feature=related, done in Skyrim; That includes cooking, mixing, and maybe even spell casting effects.

(except levitation, and questioning the king on his throne.)

"Do you want a cooking skill?"

With the game already having fewer skills than Oblivion, do I want to give up a pre-existing skill for cooking?

Oh, hell no!
