Sounds more like something that would be in "hardcoe" mode, so I doubt it.

Then again who knows? I hope to have food related diseases, but that's just me.

We know we can cook. So I would imagine cooking would serve a purpose. Removing ill-effects, as you said, would make sense. Possibly grilling it with some herbs makes it more potent or something.

Interesting :) You would have to class that differently to a disease though, more like a sickness or illness.
You could have one for: Alcohol poisoning too

I highly doubt this will be in although maybe we can get diseases from raw foods. Since alot of animals carry them.

Actually raw chicken isn't inherently bad. Salmonella exists naturally within chickens and chicken eggs but it's not a dangerous level. The reason salmonella gets to poisioning levels is because of processing. The extended period of time it takes to clean, dress and distribute is what allows the bacteria to propagate to levels dangerous to humans. You could kill a chicken and immediately eat it raw and it won't hurt you one bit. A pig on the other hand is much more dangerous because the Botulism bacteria can survive your stomach acid and propagate in your bowel.

Food for thought.

Oh yeah, and the rotten food mechanic would not be a fun one. I'll settle for not having any food in ancient unused(recently) containers.

I always thought it was funny how when Rats attacked you in Oblivion, you might get a disease (was annoying when every time a vampire hit you you had to use a 'remove disease' potion or become a vampire. <_<
But I assume it'll be like in Fallout, where eating 'raw' meat won't hurt you, but if you cook it, you'll gain more health, and possibly other bonuses as well.

Seems a little far-fetched.

Then again so is catching butterflies.

You know I'm kind of tired of this from the last 2 fallout games, sick of eating everything with rads, I just wanna get back to the basics, back to Elder Scrolls!

Raw chicken can only make ill those with sensitive digest system.
I personally eat raw meat without any problem.
Still, something like raw meat shouldn't cause any digestion problems in Skyrim.

But having some penalty in case food is poorly cooked or ingredients are bad would be good.

I know theirs ingredients (flowers and herbs) that you pick up which can poison the PC when ingested.

My guess is that Bethesda have done the same thing with most raw food or else whats the point of cooking?

In one of todds interviews he did say cooking the meat will make it better. He said it about the salmon steak.

Getting food poisoning would svck since there isn't a single toilet in all of Tamriel.
