FOOK or FWE?

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 2:05 pm

I know it's a all a matter of opinion. I'm using FWE right now, but FOOK2 looks interesting. Is one better than the other?

I use FWE. But I'm technically on both Teams so I'm officially unbiased.

BUT IT'S SO HARD TO BE GOD YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW.

both are great but FWE in my opinion is better, FOOK offers better weapons but FWE offers a better overall fallout experience, so to answer your question get FWE

Reading through the descriptions and maybe documentation should give you a good idea of at least the major differences. Trying it might still be the best way to decide, however.

For me, it's FWE at the moment, along with MMM, WMK, EVE, and many other things indeed. But I am considering trying out Arwen's Realism Tweaks (ART) in more or less the place of FWE. Give or take.

Yeah. I'm using FWE, MMM and EVE right now also. Not sure what WMK is. I completed the game before with no mods added whatsoever, not even a patch for the game. This is my first time playing again with mods added.

Edit: I notice someone is usihg FWE AND FOOK2 at the same time. I thought these both changed gameplay and weren't compatible together. here's the link I found the mod list at:

No offense but every time I see this sort of thing asked, I cringe from the nonsensical-ness of it.

Better? Really?

There's nothing poisonous or dangerous about trying a mod to see what you think. Or reading about the mod if someone hasn't. Or even loading several mods at the same time (FOOK and FWE can work at the same time, I understand).

In general I do not use either of these mods. I am just saying. It's hard to read questions like this one when the question is unanswerable and is based 100% upon the individual.

I totally agree, which is why i said 'I know it's all a matter of opinion'. If people don't want to comment about their opinion, they don't need to comment. Some mods are clearly less buggier/universally compatible than others. I was wondering if this was the case.

They are both excellent mods, and they have different goals in mind. When I get tired of the one i'm using, I go back to the other, etc, etc..

That is a different, far more specific question, one which could get meaningful answers from users of the mod. That question is not reflected in the original post which simply says "is it BETTER?". Better pertains to much more than bug reports or compatibility - 'better' includes content.

It all depends. If you want a more lore-friendly game, then FWE is the way to go. If you don't care much for lore and realism, go with FOOK2.

So since they're both very similar in what they do for the game, is it pointless or even possible to use both at the same time?

I've played both, and they both are awesome in their own ways. If you want something a little closer to vanilla gameplay with a LOT more choices on equipment you might want to give FOOK2 a try. I'm on a FOOK playthrough right now and I'm having a lot of fun with it. If you're more interested in a challenge and want more of a roleplay aspect, try out FWE. The nice thing about FWE is that a lot of options are configurable in game so if you find some things are too difficult or not difficult enough you can adjust it easily.

I play with both, I like FWE game changes but like the weapons from FOOK. I've not updated FOOK yet as compatibility patches haven't been produced yet and it's an awful lot of work constantly editing my own merge patch, especially with WMK as well :bonk: TBH I'm an amateur with FO3 so who knows what issues I'm getting unknowingly, that said the game usually plays how I like it and rarely crashes so I must be doing something right :P

I agree with MrKWMonk. I'm also new to Fallout 3, but i've been into Morrowind and Oblivion for a while. I love these games where you can change it drastically every time you play. Now, is there a utility that puts things in the correct load order for you automatically?

Yeah, but it's fairly new and doesn't have a lot of mods listed yet, but it covers most of the large ones. Search BOSS on Falloutnexus.

I have BOSS for Oblivion. That works for Fallout 3 also?

Edit: I found BOSS for FO3. I also have Oblivion installed on my pc. Will this conflict with that, whereas it requires the Runtime Library also?

Edit; Works like a charm. I thought I heard there was a way to add mods to the list yourself. I don't know if this is true or how it would be done.
