[RELz] FOOK2 - Public Beta #1

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:30 pm

Thank you linkesauge and company for this masterpiece. Downloaded earlier today with no problems and am about to start a new game to enjoy FOOK2 in all its glory. Looking forward to seeing how the retextures are since those are one my favorite types of mods. Will be interesting to see how different FOOK2 is from the first glorious FOOK.

Hail linkesauge and company! They do what took mod masters of old years to achieve in mere months of herculean creativity and mental brawn!

Agreed. Abraxo cleaner belongs to Fallout.

we will keep this in mind and remove such things if people want that, nothing is rly set atm.
In the meantime (and thats true for all vanilla retextures) one just needs to go to the vanilla texture folders and remove those that he doesn't like.
Besides that there is the possibility to offer more controversional vanilla retextures as additional install option.

@ Nessh:

We think about making the increased number of shell casings optional or as short time fix at least limited it more.

Problem with that, is that it will still be called tide etc... it would need internal modifications to set the names back to vanilla

thats ofc true, just suggested it as temporary solution. ;)

But just to repeat it, we keep this in mind and might change it back (such things are also part of the testing process to see how ppl like or do not like certain features/changes).

Installed about two hours ago and i have been having a ton fun ever since :D The balance and sense of FOOK2 being part of the original game world is magical. Everything feels just right with weapons not feeling overpowered.

I love how you changed and added many visual touches to the world to make it feel like a world devastated by war and barbarism. Walking out of Vault 101 and seeing some of the past before my shocked eyes was a wonderful moment. Subtle yet intense. I was quite happy to see this continue in other areas i have explored so far.

Being able to destroy locks by breaching them with explosives is a thrilling joy and i love the choices on how long to set the time to make my get away. I can only assume the longer timer settings would be used for something with a far reaching effect which means running far far away as fast as possible :bolt:

The clutter retextures are wonderful and incredibly professional looking. Love the Tide detergent along with the turpentine and wonder glue. The new first aid boxes are great and i love the small info lettering on the sides. The new stimpaks capture a mad scientist quality about them which goes great with the retro look of FALLOUT 3.

The weapons are heart pounding powerful. From the small arms to the huge machine gun things that look like they came from the German army or a giant battlemech they all feel as if am shooting raging thunder at my foes.

Some of the new raider armors i have seen so far look very sleek sixy and stealthy. The type of fashionable attire one would expect a decadent selfish greedy raider to wear. After all they dont loot and kill just so they can look like street corner bums

Thanks once again linkesauge, Team FOOK and all who contributed to this work of gaming artistry :foodndrink:

Works nicely, definitely reminds me of Frans. A couple of complaints about the clutter textures though- you've retexed Abraxo to be "Tide", despite the fact Abraxo is an in-world brand that's referred to in several posters etc. It seems a little odd having a brand name cleaner that is actually a different brand on the box. Plus, 1 in 4 generic books are copies of Atlas Shrugged, which is far too many to burn, what with how scarce flamer fuel is. Could you perhaps choose a less... 'controversial' cover?

lolwut.

No you should be alright. Just make sure you have a virus scanner like AVIRA (theres a fully supported free version updated a few times every day) and something to deal with cookies and ads like Spybot Search And Destroy.

I downloaded from the direct link and was done in about ninety minutes. Am about to start the provided torrent to help seed this fabulous mod in a minute before hitting the sack :foodndrink:

I know it's a minor thing, but add one more vote to changing the tide box back. Great mod, looks very promising.. but I do like keeping my fictional universes as intact as possible.

Looking forward to seeing where this mod goes.

I'm also not a fan of changing the foodstuffs and household items to real-life brands. It doesn't bother me to put new, fictional names on things that are just generic right now (turpentine, most food, you get the idea.) Gotta remember, the Fallout world is ruled by SCIENCE! and not real-world science. It follows that commercial goods are just as crazy.

Don't know if ya already know but FOOK was mentioned in Finnish games magazine Pelit (issue 7/2009). The article (in series "Pimp my Game") was about Fallout 3 modding, and with MMM, FOOK was regarded as a vital mod with the usual description of what FOOK adds (120+ items etc.).
The article also gave a honorary mention to nvde mods, with words (under a pic from said mod) "Women of Andale and Clover represent you the most useless mod one can find" :D

I took a brief read of it though, and FOOK seemed to have only a few lines written of it. MMM took the most glory with smaller mods such as Hello Kitty T-45b and WMK (though also with a very brief mention).

EDIT: Typos n' stuff

Should have guessed. Too late noticed how obsolete the magazine was.

Anyway, does FOOK2 include assault rifle named RK-95? The actual mod for it in Nexus is blocked and can't thus DL it.

Maybe for a retro 50s mad scientist b-movie kind of feel? I like it and goes with that FALLOUT 3 mentality of something which seems to help is actually a hurtful thing :yuck:  :yuck: Could be some crazy healing radiation like chemo for cancer treatment.

One last question; What, again, happened to possible duplicate mods? I'm mostly meaning my own companion mods which were (apparently) included in FOOK2. Will I have two duplicate followers and thus am forced to shut down my own mod (thus being unable to test further updates), or will the latter .esp override the FOOK one?
