[RELz] FOOK2 - Public Beta #1

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:53 pm

You never played Oblivion then? That's standard behaviour, the engine doesn't reload all the variables when you load from ingame so some scripts will still be using old references, try to call NPCs who haven't spawned yet, and cause a CTD. It's unavoidable if you're using a heavily modded game. Quit to the menu and load from there.

@ Ivan Noble:

Your load order will totaly screw FOOK2. The compatibility patches there were made for v1.6 and wont help at all. Especially FWE and MMM overwrite a lot of FOOK's changes. It doesn't make any sense to run the FOOK beta with such a list of mods.

It's a great mod and I really enjoy it. But I do experience a few difficulties:
Whilst listening to the radio it's very... stottering, like it plays for 1 second then pauses for like a microsecond, and plays a second again... really annoying.
I'm hearing a constant static on the background.
And Trying to breach whith explosives sometimes crashes my game. But apart from that it's very very nice.

here's my load order:
Fallout3.esm
FOOK2 - Main.esm
Anchorage.esm
ThePitt.esm
BrokenSteel.esm
PointLookout.esm
Zeta.esm
FOOK2 - [DIK] DLC Improvement Kit.esm
FOOK2 - [[censored]] World And Neighbourhood Kit.esm
CALIBR.esm
Hi-Res Weapons & Ammo Textures.esp
Hi-Res Weapons & Ammo Textures - The Pitt.esp
fridge.esp
WeaponModKits.esp
WeaponModKits - OperationAnchorage.esp
WeaponModKits - ThePitt.esp
GrenadeLauncher_functional.esp
NAPA.esp
NAPA-Sneak.esp
FOOK2 - Main.esp
FOOK2 - Mothership Zeta.esp
WeaponModKits - FOOK.esp
Mannequin.esp
Rowens Personal Vault.esp
FOOK2 - [censored] Map Markers.esp

Actually those CPs I have regarding fook...

They were made for FOOK2. Not fook 1.6

Trust me on this, everything meshes together perfectly except the DLC addon (just the esp... the esm is just fine)

Also, in FO3Edit, I really have no critical conflicts, especially with the patches... seems to me like everything works easy as pie... just wish i could figure out what's going on with the DIK

Been playing beth games since Morrowind. Anyway, it's not a CTD, it's just a straight freeze, and, like I said, unloadding the DIK ends the issues

please don't tell me for what a compatibility patch was made and what works or doesn't work.

These were NOT made for FOOK2 and WILL cause MAJOR issues, end of story.

Just cause you don't notice the problems or changes that get overwritten that doesn't mean its supposed to be this way.

There isn't even any way that there could be a compatibility patch for FOOK2 cause neither Martigen nor Mez have started work on a FOOK2 compatibility patch yet (or just very recently).

Okay listen, i didn't want to argue with you because you're the main Dev (and I've been following FOOK since it was just a large Enclave retexture mod, then evolved into CGC), but I can 1000000% guarentee that all the CPs I have are for FOOK2, so how about you do some damn research instead of yelling at me like an ass. The CPs I got release only a day or two ago, and I'm looking at them right now and the require FOOK2.

Also, just so you know, not all Devs exclusively make CPs. They might not be official, but they are fan made, and work perfectly.

Look on the Nexus.

And stop griping!

All for MMM, FWE, FOOK2, UWWUT, Project Beauty (actually built into the MMM patch, rather then needing the esm) and EVE (the non-fook2 version of EVE though)

I love your mod, but you need to drop the "I know freaking everything about mods not even made by me" attitude or we're gonna have major problems

Yes, I haven't made anything for FOOK 2.0 yet =) Those are old CP's.

Question for you linkesauge, did you start building FOOK 2.0 from scratch (which would result in new FormID's I'm guessing for new weapons/equipment) or did you build off the existing version? I honestly haven't had a chance to pull it up and check yet.

cheers!

Again, they are NOT old, they were JUST released (I was literally the first to download it)

How about you listen to someone who made the freakin mod in the first place and is in contact with people like Martigen, Mez and others?

The one you linked is a simple merger and I repeat it the last time, IT WILL CAUSE MAJOR ISSUES AND WONT BE BALANCED AT ALL.

Seriously, if making a compatibility patch would be that easy I'd cry of joy but this isn't the case.

Your post is very counter productive cause it creates the impression to ppl that FOOK2 will work with mods such as MMM/FWE and this is simply not the case and in the end its my time that gets wasted cause I have to explain ppl yet again that they aren't supposed to use other (gameplay changing) mods.

I should actually consider to forbid the release of such a fake CP or at least request a warning to everyone that it isnt supported by the maker of these mods and might/will cause a lot of problems.

Our work was done with the old version but so much was changed that there is probably not much left from it. You will be better off to start a compatibility patch from scratch as I think that would be a lot less work than trying to update the old CP.

If you need to know more you are welcome to PM me and/or sign up on our forum, this way I could also give you internal access to our forum and we could better coordinate any compatbility efforts (we might be even able to provide help on the CP development for FWE once we got most issues with FOOK2 fixed).

Whatever, maybe you should check it out before casting judgment. I don't care what you said, as I can tell you first freaking hand that it works perfectly. Your loss if you don't believe me.

I dont need to look at it, any decent modder knows what amount of work it would be to create such a CP and that its simply impossible to have a proper one out or create one with a simple merge.

It's not a simple merge though, I'm looking at it right now. "merger" only goes as far as the bloody name. I really wish I could explain it better... they didn't just drag and drop...

just to make you happy, I did DL it now and looked at it and guess what, it's one big mess.

Weapon balance is totaly screwed and there are MANY duplicate weapon entries. There is hardly anything the way its supposed to be.

So could we please stop this discussion and believe me that a CP like this is of no use and wont make for a good game experience.

edit: I also just noticed that there are a lot of dirty entries which indicates that the creator isn't even familar with standard mod procedures and its anyways not a show of good manners to release such a CP without contacting the creators of the origional mods and ask for permission cause I definitly would not give permission for this.

I just installed couple of days ago, but like FOOK 1.6 Textures for unique melee weapons only are missing (Like the new "Point" of Education, Occam's Razor, Vampire's Edge, etc.).
Not a big deal to me because I never used them, but it does break the immersion a bit looking at a purple weapon or any other color it chooses to turn into

You know that this is more in line with FWE, right. Not FOOK2's stats. Not everyone likes the mess, that is vanilla.

Or you can give up on trying to tell me how to play my damn game.

I was looking for tips on why FOOK2 DIK was causing my game to freeze, and I figured you would ignore me, since I was using mods anyway! I just wanted user critique, because, sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm not the only one using these patches. Not everyone wants to play FOOK2 without their other precious mods.

You should better stop to comment on such topics as compatibility if you aren't aware of the inner structure and working of the mentioned mods.

I'm not telling you what or how to play your game, I'm only stating facts and you should stop to suggest that there is a CP that deserves the name.

Not that linksausage needs any help dealing with you, my man, but here are three pieces of friendly advice that may help you in these mods as well as in real life:

EDIT: ... on second thought, you're not worth getting a warning for, so go ahead and enjoy your game :)

Yeah yeah make a big fuss. The CP may work for now, but give it several hours of playtime and the thing will become unplayable.

To give you more what you're looking for though, the most I've seen is missing textures and sounds, which I'm sure will be resolved in the first update... So far so good, and I'm loving it... despite my "conditions"

Maybe these two entreis from Wrye's playbook are worth looking at:

The Merger is alright for a temporary solution, you can play with it but it has some problems. Can we drop it now?

Hey, everyone, chill out. There is no reason to give each other high blood pressure over little things. Or large things. :)

So, let's all take a deep breath and relax.
