The first thing ANY vista user should do is DISABLE UAC.

Control Panel > User Accounts > Turn User Account Control on or off

Untick the box and press okay

proceed to enjoy your newly-found freedom, from the oppressive tyranny, that is UAC

Turn off UAC, even temp. or stop using Vista, or be the Admin. One of those. :)

I guess they could set it into an extractable Zip file, but it's going to be a lot larger to download.

So far I'm enjoying this mod quite well. Even with some minor gripes.

After restarting, you can kill that foreboding, BS warning message by going to the security center and selecting "Change the way Security Center alerts me", then selecting "Don't notify me and don't display the icon". UAC FTL!

With both of MS' problem children (XLive and UAC) out of the picture, one stands a much better chance of enjoying their game w/o issues.

Then you should reinstall to a different directory (c:\games\fallout 3 for example) so UAC doesn't affect it at all

The problem is launching the exe itself. UAC doesn't allow you to run and install a program without Administrator Privileges.

I don't know what to tell you... hopefully someday you'll get luck and be able to get on your dad's account, so you can disable UAC, and get your freedom back...

My dad isn't an idiot though. He'll quickly notice that I turned it off. Although, I already did disable UAC on the Bethesda folder to install mods.

Stupid question - couldn't you just put the .exe in the UAC disabled folder and run it?

Doesn't work.

I'll have to ask my dad. But, if I do, he'll accuse the file of being a virus, like he does for everything. He was accusing the patches on the official Fallout site to be viruses.

Try moving the entirety that is the Fallout 3 folder the Users\My Documents\My Games. UAC doesn't affect it there. Drag and drop it in :D

The problem is running the exe itself. It won't matter where I put it.

Uninstall Fallout (say no when asked if you want to delete your saves), then reinstall to C:\Games. Nothing mod related will be removed, so after reinstallation you can drag/drop the remnants of your old Fallout 3 folder into your new one. You should uninstall FOOK2, FOMM, etc. (anything Fallout 3 related in your program list) before the move and start with a clean slate that your registry entries will check out.

He means the exe for the FOOK2 install. fallout's folder won't change anything about how the install runs... with UAC on, you basically need admin to do almost anything....

little bit off topic but if i recall correctly or IIRC as you kiddos say these days, there a function in either OBMM or wrye bash that allowed you to export weapon stats to a text base list to make it easier to update new esp files instead of redoing them by hand. is there a fallout 3 tool or something in FOMM that does something similar. the reason i ask is that i change all gun values to be super accurate and didnt want to go through all the edits now if i had to redo them all over again with the next update. otherwise ill just wait till it matures abit more. enjoying the mod alot and im super happy happy joy joy that the ugly models got redone or dropped. i love fondling my new Bozar. smile.gif

Good question. Elminster created http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=198, which allows you to export virtually all data from mod files (this is what I use to generate all my itemcode, stats, etc., lists), but unfortunately there is no tool to import such data. The GECK has the ability to import some limited data from txt/csv files, all only related to language (translations) - Names, Descriptions, Dialog, etc. - and I haven't actually had a reason to try this feature yet myself.

However, I think you might find this post I made a while back to be much more useful with what you want to do: http://www.fookunity.com/forum/showthread.php?t=271

ps - I would LOVE to see FO3Dump integrated into FO3Edit! If anyone else would like be able to export specific mod data to text with a GUI, please make the suggestion to Elminster.

This really is not the thread to be having UAC discussion. Dear lord a google search will tell you everything you need to know about UAC.

I'm curious, what did you do about Follower Amata's unvoiced first greeting*? Personally that was a huge piss-off for me but I couldn't help it so I left it unvoiced.

EDIT:
* That is, if you did anything
EDIT2:
Well, if you can provide, I'd like to hear all changes to my two follower mods added to FOOK2

Is there any way to make this mod harder? Normally I stink at games but now even a laser pistol destroys raider encampments. After doing Mothership Zeta which alternated from very easy to incredibly hard, I found myself with lots of high level loot. Is there any plugin to increase spawns or make enemies tougher? Or are the high level creatures like Deathclaws, Super Mutants, and Enclave tough enough as I have not fought them.

Well, duh, raiders are easy if you have high lever equipment. Sounds like so far you done nothing but fight the lowest level enemies in the game with the highest tech equipment. What exactly did you think was going to happen? What did you do, go to MSZ at a low level and come back with tons of high tech loot? Of course that's going to spoil your game. And yes, mutants and the Enclave are much tougher, especially the Enclave.

But you know, there is that thing called a "Difficulty Level" in the game, right? You can always use that . . .

Mart's Mutant Mod (MMM) increases the difficulty and number of enemy spawns and adds new times. It's quite popular.. and won't work right with FOOK2 (well it IS beta yet and the combination patch from FOOK 1.6 doesn't work anymore).

I actually find it slightly more difficult in game than without FOOK, since those better than normal weapons start off in the hands of the enemy too. I'm not sure if FOOK2 changes monsters at all, but it does seem that super mutants have more hit points, or at least I can't take them out in one or two shots like I used to be able to. Add that with their habit of carrying miniguns and heavy machine guns, they can be a serious threat. I generally have to stay in cover and wait till there is a break in their fire, then pop out and snap off a few shots while they reload, or I risk being chewed to shreds.

Limiting the number of stimpaks that I carry, and with things like food and anti rad chems being a heal over time means I have to be more careful than without FOOK, and I like that.

I am using very hard difficulty and judging from your replies the game does get harder. Thanks for your replies. Also is FOOK 2 going to be compatible with MMM in the foreseeable future?
