Fool me once, Shame on you..... Fool me twice? Not this time

Im hearing worrying things regarding the PS3 version of F:NV. After Fallout 3 broke my previous PS3 (Cannot prove this but when a game crashes constantly then the PS3 Yellow lights, I can assume) i'm never putting anything like it in my new PS3 ever again. And that brings me to F:NV, a game i want to play but never will because of the persistant freezes that will more than likely plauge the title.

Let me help you Devs out, its called a memory leak! The engine needs scraping.

Well, from what I've heard from prerelease "first impressions", it's actually the Xbox that has the lion's share of bugs this time. Including a memory leak.

Great advice!
Problem is: Money, patience & knowledge.
I for example don't have money for it.
Nor do I have the patience to keep a computer fresh with virus scans and crap.
And even if I had the patience I don't have the knowledge to keep my computer up to date.

You want a new game right? Then don't blame the engine.

It baffles me how many here will bash the engine when they themselves aren't producers or know anything about the process of making games.

Not everyone has hundreds of pounds to spend on a decent gaming rig ;). I'll make sure i get born with that silver spoon next time.

I've got a couple of friends with the PS3 version, they confirmed a few things that i was worried about I.e Being able to play the game without problems..... I know, silly really that i should expect this. I'm ******* off as i loved fallout 3 for the first 10 hours i played it, before i started experiencing the issues.

Meh.

I'm just frustrated, maybe i'll go smack a cow.

I've heard this as well, Although i think alot more people have the 360 version at this time.

I seem to remember a memory leak happening on Fallout 3, was that the PC version? or 360? Or all? ;)

Virus scanning isn't too much of an issue if you follow basic safety guidelines. A good antivirus and avoiding sites that are ... of less reputable intent. Good example, COMODO is free and does a damn good job. I only scan about once a month and never have any problems.
Also, knowledge gained from experiences had. Get a computer, use it and the knowledge will come.

Gabriel you really just sound lazy! For less then $500 i was able to pick up a motherboard, dual core chip, cooling unit, 4GB dual channel RAM, a decent vid card and large enough HDD. Even then you really just sound too pesemist to care. So you're right why should you even bother.

Actually i have a fairly good idea about how games are made, and the process of QA.

just to add: I don't even have an antivirus software, but this migth be closely tied to the fact I don't click on advertisemant on webpages, nor do I publish stupid things on Failbook.

I can not vouch for the PS3 version, but I did get my hands on the XBox 360 version last night. I went in expecting problems, but it ran fairly well, some hiccups here and there with lag, but nothing horrible. There was some falling through the world issues, with objects, not the player character. For example, you grab on to an object to move it, if you do it just right you can put it under the world where you can not get to it. I am going to play this game primarily on PC when my Steam pre-order unlocks, and I much prefer my PS3 over my 360, but I did not have any major issues on the 360 when I tried it.

Personally, I would suggest you sell your PS3 and use the money to buy a Xbox 360. Most of the bad problems (such as the 'Red Ring of Death') have been fixed in the newer models (so buy new), and overall the game selection is good. :celebration: And no crappy PC viruses to worry about.

A very good point, if you stay away from sites you have no business on and popups this is a problem you will rarely if ever see!

There's a slight problem with this idea.

The Xbox 360 version is said to have the problems this time around, and the PS3 is supposed to have even better frame rates and less bugs than the Xbox 360 version.

And I'm sorry to say, but the RRoD has not entirely been fixed. I'm pretty sure I saw some reports of hardware failures even on the new Xbox 360s. The problem has only been dulled quite a bit, not eliminated.

As for PC viruses, with a great antivirus (Avast!, MSE, and Avira are amazing free ones) and common sense, it's easy to avoid viruses. And with Malwarebytes, if one somehow gets through, it's easy to remove them.

For the OP, I recommend still getting the PS3 version. Next to the PC version, it's the best one available because it has the least amount of issues and better performance when compared to the Xbox 360 one.

well, do you know the failure rate of the new ones? there will always be problems with technology like this. something like 5-10% is perfectly acceptable
