Foot prints in the snow.

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 5:19 pm

I am totally amazed by the fact that Skyrim is covered in 80% snow and there are no snow foot prints in this game. WoW is a crappy game with crappy graphics and it even has footprints in the snow WTH? It's not like this is a small detail, foot prints are NOTICEABLE. Just leave it to the modders again huh Bethesda?

Minus ten points for mentioning WoW. World of Warcraft is nothing more than the MMO equivalent of Playskool's "My first MMO", ages 3 and up.

Sing along with me:

"I'm a big kid, look what I can do!
I can join the guild raid too!
I can macro all day long!
Mommy, WOW! I'm a big kid now!"

I find that I am living my life fairly well despite not leaving footprints in the snow.

Still it does not make sense that Oblivion had footprints, and Skyrim wich is the region of snow, does not.

Yea, a minor gripe of mine for not seeing footsteps in snow.
Hopefully there will be a mod that does this. Not sure how hard it'll be.

And yet WoW has footprints in the snow left from your character. Which was the point of the OP, a point that apparently flew over your head.

I searched for that picture of Todd Howard pointing at a computer that has the forums on its screen, and it says "damn nitpickers!!". But I could not find it. I apologize.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not busting OP's chops. Granted, I don't think the footprint issue is a major one, and it doesn't affect me in the slightest, but I do realize that what works for me won't for others. So I'm not going to judge, beyond busting some WoW chops a little bit. I think a mod can cover that base for you relatively easy enough, OP.

But, thinking on the footprint thing, what would be *really* nice in future TES games would be a voxel volumetric engine of sorts. Like this one:

Oh, and Tagle? Haters hate just for the sake of hating. I actually have a reason. WoW had semi-decent PvP and PK in the early days, then threw it all away. They watered things down so badly a rhesus monkey with a botched lobotomy can do well in that game, simply by rolling its face across the keyboard. Meh.

I don't watch my feet, so i didn't notice.

The snow is so scared of me, it doesn't move when I step on it, out of fear I'll see it. Like a T-rex, I see motion first, death second, and stationary objects first.

Damn right, I shattered math with my path of detection.

I love Skyrim. I love WoW. I am more than likely older than you (42). Go away with your petty hatreds....

Yeah, you got me by ten years. But come on, now. So I'm not a fan of Wow. The sun will rise in the morning, still.

I'd rather they fix other stuff first before going to minor stuff like footprints in the snow; unless you walk backwards all the time.

The sun WILL rise, agreed. And you do not have to be a fan of WoW. Just understand that going through a raid in WoW is much tougher than anything Beth is going to hit you with in Skyrim. And not everyone in WoW is a kid. There are some really good, advlt guilds in WoW that make the game absolutely incredible. Not Skyrim incredible, but incredible nonetheless.

I disagree.

Fighting a Krosis at level 10 on a mage was the toughest fight I've EVER had. IN ANY GAME. In WoW, you eventually know how to kill anything once you learn the mechanics. In Skyrim, the AI is more adaptable, and challenging.

That said, I loved Vanilla and BC WoW, but I love Skyrim more. Mentioning a feature that is in WoW to show how easy it is to implement graphically in Skyrim is a legit argument.

Even if the feature asked for is not.

I would expect to see footprints too. But when ever we mention something not in the game you'l get flemed by [censored]. I love this game as much as any one . But it's not perfect.
The OP has the right to mention this(and a good point) why can't people express there wishes here without getting jumped on by people that are just too easily pleased.

The game is Awesome ...but small things like Footprints in the snow add to (i'm not going to say it)

This game is so great and does a lot of things right. So when you see things like "no footprints" and horrible textures here and there it sticks out like a saw thumb.

Looks like someone has a bit of a grudge. I'm guessing that you attempted a harder raid or dungeon boss and completely screwed everyone else over. Very creative with that post by the way. "+10 for successful use of sarcasm" But "-10 for looking like a total idiot"
He referenced a game, and made it relevant to the topic, and the fact he chose WoW is a sin why?

Also, I have a bit of a tip... Before knocking a game for being childish, stop trying to be all 'Official' and play the illusion of being some world famous comedian/gamer/gamereviewer :hubbahubba:

Raiding in WOW was the most tedious, boring, time consuming experience I ever had. Thankfully after just a few of these I gave up on the GOTTA RAID TO BE LEET treadmill. While you spent your entire day trying to get that raid organized, and finally complete the raid I killed dozens of Gnomes/elves/dwarves/ and humees PVPing all over the known world. I prefer to ENJOY my time playing by challenging other players in a MMO...not gear grinding to be elite in a arena.

I did see a patch of Yellow Snow...then I thought of Frank and decided maybe I shouldnt eat it. I did roll around in it though. It added 15% to sneak.

I've noticed the lack of footprints as well. As detailed as this game is, it seems an odd thing to leave out.

To be honest. I was too awestruck by the environment around me to notice my footprints until I saw threads like these on the forums.
It'd be a nice touch though, shame it's not in the game but ah'well. Life goes on.
