Robbie Keane is so fast though. So fast that the linesmen in Scotland can't keep up with him, and that's why he gets called offside so often. Today he was so fast even the cameramen couldn't keep up with him, I barely saw him at all. Kevin Thomson and Mo Edu on the other hand... Those guys were so slow they must have just left the cameras pointed at them. Made it look like they dictated play the whole game.

;)

Good Lord, Robbie Keane can still run? (Oic, they get a greyhound and tie some money to its tail.)

Scotland 1 - 0 Czech Republic

Had a few chances to make it 2 at the end as well. Boyd had a goal disallowed for offside, but it was by a bawhair at the absolute most. Now we just need to do the same in the real thing.

England beat Egypt 3-1 which sounds okay but the first half was pretty crap.

Lampard missed a couple of good chances and Upson but I thought the 'big players' were key tonight - Gerrard, Rooney and Terry all had decent games. Crouch, Milner and Carrick played well when they came on.

My World Cup XI:

Robinson

Johnson Terry Ferdinand Cole

Milner Barry Lampard Gerrard

Rooney Crouch

I thought it was ok, we started quite well and really should of had at least a goal by half time. I thought all of the subs did better than those they replaced (except C.Cole for Rooney, not enough time). I didn't think Lampard, Gerrard, Walcott or Defoe played particularly well really. I think for the WC starting 11 I'd take:

Green

Johnson Terry Ferdinand Cole

SWP Barry Lampard Gerrard

Rooney Crouch

I'd really love to fit Joe Cole in on the left by the time summer is here, he needs some more games though. Also, Fighters, Robinson in net? He's more commentary now :P I also wouldn't be too against replacing Lampard for Carrick in some games where we need a more balanced midfield. I just can't shake the thought that we're shoe horning Lampard and Gerrard in the same team.

I think Robinson is good, he got shafted on the basis that he missed a kick in Croatia and he hasn't put a foot wrong for Blackburn this year.

I'd like to get Joe Cole in the team too because he's been our best Left Winger for ages but he isn't fit enough and the Gerrard on the left policy has worked okay so far. Defoe is over-hyped in my opinion. He might just make my squad - but he wouldn't be in my XI by a mile.

USA got beat by the Netherlands yesterday, 2-1, and we looked horrible.

I think we controlled the ball on their side of the field maybe 3 times the entire first half, we've got work to do before the World Cup otherwise it's going to be embarrassing.

Oh Celtic, have you no shame? Getting the excuses in early again.

http://www.sportinglife.com/football/transfer_centre/nw_story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=soccer/10/03/05/SOCCER_Falkirk_Pitch_Nightlea.html

The SPL sent independent expert Bill Gillespie to the Falkirk Stadium on Thursday where the pitch was passed fit for Sunday's game.
Pressley said: "I believe they were very happy with the standard of the pitch and so are we.
"It infuriates me to be perfectly honest because I've seen groundsman Jim Dawson working on that pitch until 12 o'clock at night.
"He has been groundsman of the year in the SPL for two out of the last three years and he's been voted third in the UK.
...
"But the pitch is great, I watched the Under-21 game on Tuesday and it was absolutely fine.
"If it was suitable for an international game, it will be suitable for the game this Sunday."

Just lost to Wigan 1-0.

We were shocking - and we still had enough chances to win. Torres has been watching Bendtner too much this weekend. We're currently playing with the aggression of a pacifist sloth on tranquilizers. At the back end of last season when we were smashing teams 4-0 every week we were playing with such a great attacking threat. Torres was lightening quick and sharp in front of nets, Gerrard was playing with freedom in front of the Midfield, Benayoun was taking on his markers 5 times just for the lulz of it and Alonso was controlling the game and spreading the play wherever he deemed it worthy to be.

Now we have a half fit Torres fluffing simple chances, Gerrard is out of form and still not fit but is having no control on the game at all, Benayoun is being bullied off the ball and isolated whilst Alonso has been replaced by the anonymous Aqualani or the useless Lucas. Our defense was slow tonight even with Masch at RB, we miss Agger in the middle. Reina was our only above par player (worthy mention to Mascherano for at least being committed). Our team spirit is pathetic. No one seems to care. Carra came out saying he wouldn't be bothered if he didn't get a new contract which shows you how much anyone cares at the minute...

Actually I'd say Torres has to watch Bendtner more ;)

Anyway, Rangers 2 - 0 Kilmarnock

Routine. 13 points clear and 6 wins off the title.

I think it's a sign of how terrible our season is that I'm pretty ecstatic about us beating Pompey 3-0 at half time...

It really is...

Battle for 4th? Been there my friend, been there... Although you've been worse than we ever were in our battle for 4th :P. Don't 'Pool have to yet play Man Utd and Chelsea? If so, that could get ugly. Unfortunately for Benitez and Liverpool as well I must say that Aquilani has been a massive flop for the money. I don't know whether he needs a string of games or whether he should just move on.

I think you'll find Aqualani has opened his account today ;) Benitez has played a pretty attacking team (Maxi, Aqualani, Gerrard and Babel in midfield) and we're reaping the rewards.

I'm confident enough to suggest that we'll extend out winning run against United to 4 games this weekend :P

Also, as if the media will let me forget it, Becks is out of the World Cup. It's a shame for him because he's a top pro and his delivery would've been useful but he would never have made the first XI.

Wowzer! It's only taken him the whole season :P For 20 million I could have done that!

Beckham was worth chucking on for the last 20 minutes or so though, when I watched the Milan vs United game he came on for 25 minutes and created more from his deliveries on the right than Milan had done all game. He really can still ping the ball wherever he wants but I agree, he'd be very much a bit part player now. I can just sort of see our slim world cup chances diminishing, all the [censored] with Terry and Bridge and then Ashley Cole getting injured, now Beckham, Ferdinand has some sort of chronic back problem... Our preparations are definitely not going to plan.

I'm worried about alot of positions in the team really, especially the back 4. I'm also not a fan of playing Gerrard on the left, he comes narrow too much. If we're gonna play with Crouch and Rooney as a partnership (or Heskey) then we'll need plenty of good wingplay. It should be one of Gerrard or Lampard in the middle alongside Barry or Carrick in my opinion, but then who goes out left? Joe Cole? I dunno, he needs to play a bit first. Hargreaves is back fit apparently, played a reserve game or something, does he even have the remotest chance to get in the squad? He's good but midfield is very competetive right now and he's barely kicked a ball in 2 seasons.

Ooops, a simple reply turned into a big stream of consciousness. :P

Apparently Gerrard is a dirty little rat who needs to clean up his act. Who knew?

Haha, at least he's happy. Is that what happiness looks like? :P

Anyway, I found another good interview with Arsene Wenger, it's written by The Independent so expect incoming big words. It's not an early morning kind of read, it's all a little bit overdone. Could have done with more Wenger, less poncy journalism but oh well...

He's a pretty amazing guy. Although he hasn't won us a trophy for a while...<_<

I think Gerrard is pretty well behaved on the pitch, especially since he's been captain. I'm pretty sure he wasn't flicking the V's last week. Apparently he said that he'd been fouled twice already hence the 2 fingers which is a pretty lame excuse but I really don't think he deliberately did that.

I haven't seen last nights so I can't comment.

Liverpool V United today.

I'm pretty nervous which is a good sign because it means I think we actually have a chance :P Torres is showing signs of being close to his best and Gerrard has played better over the last 2 games. I'm worried about our defence but I reckon Carra will hammer Rooney before Vidic gets sent off for fouling Torres after he's beaten him for the 10th time and Gerrard will score from the resulting penalty.

Easy!

Edit: Football thread! That should make it easier to find this in the search :P
