My god those vuvuzela's are annoying. The Dutch channel that broadcasts the games is known to include a lot of the 'audience' (what's the proper english name for it here?) sounds when they broadcast it. Which I normally like, but with this constant buzzing of those things it's very annoying. Thankfully they've now decided to turn down the audience volume a bit.

Great game by the Germans. Finally a team that has lived up to the hype.

Can't wait 'till tomorrow, we're going to crush Denmark. Crush them I say!

Crowd noise? That's what I'd say, you got it pretty much spot on anyway :).

...and yeh, it normally adds to the game but the Vuvuzela's are a little annoying. I haven't found them game breaking, I don't find them so annoying, it's just that I prefer traditional crowd noises. Nothing like the roar of 80,000 people as a goal flies into the top corner!

I'm okay with the Vuvuzela's it's a SA thing and we're in SA so let them. I'd rather encourage the local population than discourage them.

After several weeks of getting grief from my Brit friends, they have been strangely silent this weekend.

I have to admit that I'm not that much of a football fan, but I'm smirking now...

Yeah, agreed, I like them anyway, we have fireworks , flares, music and drums at Olympiakos matches (important derbies and European matches) so this is nothing. If we try to ban them for our TV entertainment we just end up looking like some colonial in a suit\uniform complaining about the heat. Everyone who has gone there says what amazing hosts everyone is (apart from the inevitable burglaries) and then we say stop having fun, we're white and won't stand for it on our televisions.

And who invited the Germans? Everyone's been crap so far. Let's see what happens when they get their defence tested though. They started this way before.

Meh. Nobody's going to guilt-trip me into liking those wretched things with inferences of colonialism. I've taken to watching the games with the sound off because the bloody noise does my head in, and frankly that's not much fun. The commentators are in sound-proof boxes, so I don't see why they can't just turn the pitchside microphones off and just give us the commentary. It's not like there's a great atmosphere for us to hear.

Bull elephants make a similar noise, don't ya know. Just before they charge. Have to block all the sound out and grab your best rifle before the gun wallah runs. Quick nip of scotch to calm the old nerves, a few bars of Elgar and wait till you see the whites of your porter's eyes. That means the elephant is within range, so turn round and blast away. A few more of those and plastic trumpets will hold no fear. You might need new servants though, by Jove.

Oh, and if anyone thinks I'm biased in my criticisms of Celtic, http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/celtic/8737496.stm

EDIT: As a final note on the vuvuzela's, I'd just like to point out that this is NOT and "African World Cup", this is a WORLD Cup HELD in Africa. Big difference. It's for the world, not just South Africa. The sooner they realise it and ban the damn things the better.

Most of my players haven't played yet. Is there a way to view each others' teams?

Casillas

Ramos Maicon Terry Alves

Xavi © Lampard Schweinsteiger

Villa Fabiano Aguero

Bench: Lee (GK - Korea [N or S I'm not sure!]), Salata (Slovakia), Yussuf (Nigeria), Edu (USA)

Aguero was my risky pick for striker, hopefully he comes good. 4 Spaniards and 3 Brazilians to play, should be pretty much easy points there.

EDIT: Yiasemi, shame Netherlands aren't up against such quality opposition tomorrow or we might actually have a decent game on our hands :P

I've got Howard and King on my bench and I forgot to sub them in.

It's funny how our teams are pretty similar. Same formation, same keeper, English defender, French defender, Xavi, English midfielder (Gerrard > Lampard), Spanish striker (Torres > Villa).

You have no idea how frustrated I was watching Nigeria's keeper save so many Messi shots the other day. Serious rage.

Villa > Torres

Villa or Luis Fabiano for top scorer. I can see Aguero not being played at all... Front three of Aguero, Messi & Higuain could be pretty lethal.

Because Tevez is crap? (Note: He is awesome)

And Torres is so much more awesome than Villa. He plays for Liverpool and everything!

Silly Celtic man. If the Scottish FA are any good, Celtic will get a lot of yellow cards for complaining.

But banning the vuvuzela's? Typical. "I don't like it, ban it." Vuvuzela's don't harm anyone, they're a cultural phenomenom and if the Africans and whoever else wants to blow on them instead of watching the match, they should be allowed to. As far as I know, all the big broadcasters have limited the background sound so it only becomes a problem if you want it to be a problem.

Banning them would be as silly as banning English players to be goalies because one of them screwed up.

That was a really cheap way to drop that in, I expected better :P.

I must admit every time I watch the dutch play I get nervous. I cringe whenever RvP touches the ball, don't get injured DAMN YOU!!!

I learned how effective it is to conclude your view with a cheap soundbite :P It should add confusion because it doesn't make sense, muahaha.

Bendtner plays, which makes Denmark a bit more dangerous in my opinion. 3-1 I think.

Oh dear no. Bendtner has actually proclaimed himself a world class striker so often that people are believing him! Bendy is ok but he overrates himself a bit, he is quite good at picking up unlikely looking goals though, it's just the clear cut chances he has problems with.

Funny that you say that, Robin van Persie just said that in an interview. He's cocky; which can be his strong and his weak point. But Bendtner is much better than Thomasson, who's just over the hill. His aerial ability is extremely good.

I'm watching on ESPN the presenter doesn't know the difference between Danes and Dutch, and the camera focuses on blondes female ones, in the crowd, there are a lot.

Aww, now I want to watch ESPN as well :( But we won't lose. Not until we're in the quarter finals, then we'll lose on penalties or something silly like that.
