Football Thread - World Cup Special IV

Yeah but the attacking teams are all ropy at the back too, even Germany are suspect.
Argentina deserve that but i feel sorry for the Koreans.

hat trick for the guy I cannot pronounce.

I think that's because the onus is on them to attack and break down the opposition. In nearly every game I've seen so far featuring a better team they've had to commit to the majority of the team forward in order to effectively attack the team who are parking the bus. When you do this you're bound to leave gaps at the back for breakaways, like the Spanish yesterday. Their defence had so little to do that they seemed to lose focus and it cost them, the fullbacks spent most of their time in the opposition half as well. Good teams often allow more creative freedom to their players, you won't see Spain or Brazil keeping a disciplined 4-5-1 or 4-4-2 like the Swiss or Ivory Coast did and thus they tend to leak goals.

It doesn't really help when you have tools like Demichelis in your team though...

Have you read http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jun/17/spain-blame-sara-carbonero-switzerland about the Spanish keeper and his gf? I love the roasting she gave him on live TV after the match.

Those Spanish, clutching at straws. Could it possibly be because they didn't play well enough to score an actual goal? :P

And where's Kyrgiakos? They can't possibly believe they can win without him.

EDIT: See? He would have saved that!

I think Nigeria have a secret agent with that Greek keeper. He's so bad.

Also, Ninis is an absolute [censored] legend. In the FIFA Manager games.

If I was that Nigerian player I'd have stuck the boot in on the Greek guy again just for being a such a [censored] pansy, and made sure he wouldn't be walking for a year at that. Never a red card, yellow at most.

Torosidis had just got a black eye about 2 minutes earlier. The Nigerians are very physical from the beginning, and hey our goal was a Rob Green special so I don't mind.
Samaras actually has brought the edge into attack we needed. We deserved that goal.

And Fighter's Brotherhood, you must stay there until the end. You are now officially lucky!

Very pansy-ish but still, how unprofessional from the Nigerian player. One of the biggest games of your life, in a tournament that by all accounts is stricter than most, why give the referee a decision to make over such petulance? Just keep your head!
