Ha! Take that Italy! Despite a yellow card for getting cramp and 4 minutes of extra time, New Zealand managed to hold them off.

I'm starting to get pissed off at this entire World Cup. There are perhaps a handful of teams that have come to SA to win, the others are there to not lose.

It's like handballtactics with feet, totally horrible.

It seems that it's a combination of bad luck for the Italians plus an exceptionally brilliant defence by the Kiwis.

Let me give a quote:

"The New Zealanders were the best. Brave and intelligent in attack, tenacious in defence...."

Some one describing the Kiwi Soccer Team in 2010?

No. German Army General Erwin "Desert Fox" Rommel, describing the New Zealander troops in the desert in 1942.

My main reason for wanting Heskey out isn't because he's bad (Which he is), I just don't think it's working out playing with a target man. We'd play better with Gerrard just off Rooney and Joe Cole on the left, with Barry holding and Lampard making late forward runs. That's my opinion anyway  Heskey in that role just isn't adding enough, winning a few knockdowns isn't really reason enough to put him in the team. That [censored] Rooney could play further up as well then, where he's been a goal machine for Utd this season.

Added to that our players can't pass more than 2-3 times consecutively and the fact they're clearly very nervous and lacking confidence and we've got a disaster. We don't really have anyone who can pull the strings either, Gerrard and Lampard are great players but not suited to the role of "playmaker". I think Joe Cole could help add a bit of guile and he'd be better than Gerrard on the left. After watching SWP and Lennon, I'm wishing Capello had taken Walcott, he can't have done any worse than those 2 have so far.

To be honest I'd rather not see Gerrard and Lampard played together. Doesnt work.

I cant wait for wednesday, the pressure is on, its a win or nothing game -- this is usually when England really comes out of the hidey hole. I expect them to come out all guns blazing.

But I cant watch the match because I'm at work, so if i'm wrong, I wont be disapointed.

Good lord, Real Madrid has destroyed Kaka.

I remember a few years ago when he single handedly demolished Man Utd for AC Milan but now... He's terrible, it's sad :(.

EDIT: I just heard Alan Shearer compare Heskey and Luis Fabiano.

And another awfully boring first half. The quality of the football in this tournament really is at a depressing level. If I got a penny for every pass that crossed the line, ball that jumped of a foot or blunder by the keeper, I'd be rich by now.

And that's why I put Luis Fabiano in my fantasy football team.

Now someone remind me why I took him out again? <_<

He didn't compare the player, he compared the position they found themselves in on the pitch. Fabiano obviously did the better job, that goes without saying. Heskey is just a big donkey, I still have no idea how he has managed to get so many caps for his country. I can think of plenty of vastly superior English strikers.

He said something along the lines of "Heskey found himself in a similar position on Friday, he pulled it back. Luis Fabiano shoots and scores a fantastic goal, that's what confidence does". Yes Alan, could be the confidence... Could be the huge gulf in talent instead though

Luis Fabiano scores again, he's going to be deadly now he's got himself off the mark.

That is a ridiculous decision. Absolutely shocking from the ref and the Ivory Coast player.

Hahaha, some fantastic Ivory Coast theatrics, priceless. I was half expecting someone else to rake himself in the eyes and blame it on Kaka.

Bad decision but the real blame lies with the IC player.

Terrible sportsmanship and awful refereeing. This game has gone seriously downhill in the last 5 or 10 minutes.
