Like waspinator said the rules were followed, but yeah you do feel a certain rage when they cling at straws and deny Ghana a semi final entry through dirty work.

I feel no remorse for Ghana because, as I said, Uruguay should have had a penalty in the first half of extra time. It all evened itself out in the end.

P.S. I miss Golden Goal

Bleh, typical cheating [censored]. The punishment was dished out according to the letter of the law, whether it's "fair" or not is an entirely different matter. It was pretty reprehensible, similar to Maradona's hand of god against England, I can't really condone or relate to [censored] like that but that's just the nature of the game at times.

Anyone who's gutted can take solace in the fact they won't be winning it.

This WC has brought a whole lot of people who aren't familiar with the game into big arguments, it's pretty cool.

Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "ball-handling skills."

I have had good bet on Spain to win 3-0 and Argentina to win 3-1

Yes, he was punished according to the rules, but I can't for the life of me understand those of you who call Suarez a hero. You want diving, to be a part of the game too?

When you win the game by breaking the rules, I call that despicable. Should the game be played trying to trick the rules, or should we aim for a game where everyone follows the rules?

Heck, why not just skip the rules then completely?

Germany and Argentina seem pretty evenly matched, I don't dare make any predictions. I will be cheering for Germany though.

On the other hand, Spain seems to be the clear favourite over Paraguay. I'll be cheering for the underdog here.

No, when you win the game by breaking the rules without it getting noticed, that's despicable.

Instead of just conceding to the goal, Suarez extended Uruguay's lifeline for just a little bit and gave Ghana a penalty. He was punished accordingly. That they missed a penalty is hardly his fault. They still could have gotten that win rather easily, most penalties go in, you know.

EDIT: Gyan was just way too eager to score that one. Just like that guy from Uruguay that missed, which was a certainty before he had even started running. You can't run 7 meters towards the ball at a penalty, shoot as hard as you can, and expect the ball not to go over. What a terrible penalty that was.

Didn't we see a penalty earlier in the competition where a guy ran from a good few paces outside the box and smashed it in? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdC_aGjfReg always favoured long run-ups as well, and he smashes them in 99 times out of 100.

Thommy is right. Long run up PK's almost always go wide/over. Also, if your run up is too straight then you risk making it difficult to put it in the corners.

The o represents the perfect starting position for a player for a PK imo :P

Edit: Well that looked a lot better until the forums messed it up <_<

Never a handball. Terrible call by the ref, and Muller misses the next match.

Is it only me...or did I just watch 100 minutes of football in 45 minutes plus injury time?

WHAT A GAME SO FAR!!!!

Edit: Argies appear to be psychologically fragile...if this goes on I see one of them getting red carded in the second half.

I went into this game as a neutral, but I've been impressed with Germany grabbing the game by the balls, and I have 4 Germans in my fantasy football and only 3 Argies. Ergo, go Germany!
