Well, Spain are playing like Italy, and I don't mean that as a compliment.

"Oh! Oh! He stepped on my foot so I'm going to fling myself to the ground holding my face! I've been shot! I've been shot!" :meh:

Yes! The game is at half time and all is going according to plan. Spain is obviously much better, but we are going to score a lucky and undeserved goal in the 2nd half. :foodndrink: :celebration:

HUP HOLLAND! :meh:

So the first half goes.

My thoughts.

A very ugly game, with the Dutch committing the most blatant fouls - yet if you look at the deadly but more subtle Spanish fouls, Spain are not too far behind.

The Spanish were powerful and dangerous in the first part of the first half. Yet I think that overall, the Dutch Team is psychologically stronger, and it began to show in the latter part of the second half.

A tremendous pace in this game. If the second half is like this, the team to tire first will lose.

I dunno, some of the Dutch tackling has been awful.

Well, De Jong should be out, and they have made a few late hits, but Spain doesn't have to flop around afterwards. Mind you, Robben does it, too, but he seems to be about the only one on the Dutch side.'

Alonso gets a pass on the flopping part, though; that must have hurt! :o

EDIT:: Bets on who gets the first red card?

Really it is a shame that the ultimate game of football is so crap. Hopefully the second half will be much improved.

I reckon Holland need to take the lead for it to become a good game though.

Some pretty atrocious play from De Jong and Van Bommel, going into challenges of any kind with your foot at chest height isn't fun, very dangerous. I always knew Van Bommel was a thug, so it's not exactly a surprise that he should have been shown his marching orders.

De Jong and Van Bommel have to navigate the whole 2nd half on yellow cards though, they're really not as effective when they have to take it a bit easier.

This should be an easy kick about for Spain with 11 v 8. As it happens, Howard Webb seems desperate to keep everyone on the pitch. How at least ONE of Van Bommel, De Jong and Sneijder hasn't been sent off is completely beyond me. It'll be a travesty if the Dutch go on to win this.

Agreed I just hope Spain can get a couple of quick goals.

Not at this rate. I think the score being tallied is the number of yellow cards per team.

I agree as well.

I went into this tournament with the Dutch as my "2nd team" (As usual) but I've lost a bit of respect for them this year. They're more than a little dirty...

How the [censored] is Van Bommel still on the pitch. This isn't even football anymore.

Come on Howard Webb, grow a pair of balls and get that red card out. On second thoughts, turf the Dutch out altogether, tell the Spanish to have a wee rest, and let's have a proper final against the Germans tomorrow.

THRILLING NIL-NIL DRAW.

Seriously, yawn. Germany/Uruguay was so much better.

And I thought the Spanish were supposed to be loquacious, and the Dutch Taciturn...

...there would have been far less yellows for the Dutch if only they learned to keep their big mouths firmly shut.

Actually second half was great I thought. Some proper good end-end action.

Also Spain need Torres. I know I'm biased and stuff but every time they get out wide they have no one in the middle, around the penalty spot where all great strikers lurk.

Not the best of finals but the dirty Dutch should down to at least 9 men, in extra time I would love to see van Bommel get his marching orders.
