He's retired from the national team. He came out of retirement 2 or 3 matches because the new keeper was unavailable for those matches. Still playing for Manchester City, though.

What a brilliant day of football Im overjoyed that this world cup is turning into something unique and special with quite a few more "wild" entries into the knock out stage. As for us facing Germany I feel quietly optimistc I think that we have a really good shot at beating them considering the realtive youth of the team and we know the Germans a little better in regards to how they will play than an uknown entity like Ghana.

Tell you what looking at the likely teams we are going to face if we carry on (hopefully) progressing we certainly will deserve to win Germany -> Argentina -> Spain I think its looking likely with Brazil in the finals :bonk: - correct me if I'm wrong.

It sure is, Van der Sar was a true hero. However, Stekelenburg is a great keeper who just keeps on improving, so we could have done a lot worse.
