Football Thread - World Cup Special VIII

Agree. Capello takes at most 25% of the blame. The rest is the responsibility of the players.

I'd still stick some blame on FIFA and the ref for making that decision, but the english defense was just woeful.

Just wait for the clash I mentioned, Miller.

Every Dutch-German football clash is like World War Two all over again.

That's not very hopeful for the Dutch then is it?

But most of them have to go, they are too old and too slow for this German team, they can't still be there 4 years or even two years from now. Time to start afresh. Probably be Division One players mind you.

Of the 'big players' I can only see Rooney, Cole and maybe Gerrard making another World Cup squad. Lampard and Terry will probably be too old. They should all be in the next Euro Squad.

Today's game can be blamed on our defence (including James) and the ref. I'd [censored] slap Rooney as well, just because.

Edit:

Yiasemi, on the battlefield, no, but on the soccer pitch, the Dutch have the advantage.

Really? Because as far as I remember history Germany steamrolled over the Netherlands back in 1940 but I wouldn't excpect that on the football field.

Oh, I@m looking forward to the tabloid headlines tomorrow. Another reason to love being Welsh :P.

I am just glad England was destroyed in that match, seriously they score 1 damn goal and everyone was like "we are epic" quite a turn around, nice to see reality hitting like a train.
Also its like a guy I know said, "Cheer for whoever is against the English" or something like that.

All English people are feeling, disappointed, angry, ashamed and defeated. Damn those Germans. Where have gone the days when we could beat them 5:1?

You know England are in trouble when the forward line is Schreck and Donkey and they have to put 4 past the Germans.

Oh yeah and it seems small now, but that goal call was rediculous. It was like 2 feet past the line! 4:2 it should have been.

IMO Capello dosent deserve much blame, englands players are the problem, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jG2KMkQLZmI If the player downright fail not much he can do.

Germany has a reservoir of Poles to draw their team from. Plus German youth have not suffered from the European obesity plague as much as the British. And only the Germans and the Italians have a truly scientific and comprehensive approach to training and training discipline.

That is why they have won more World Cups.

Of the morals of the Italian team, however, I shall say nothing.

Oh my god. How could this happen to England, who saw off the giants of football Andora and Belarus so comfortably in qualifying? Who am I going to support now that no one is playing them? <_<

England can play well maybe 5 minutes of every 90. That's not enough. When will the English public realise that their team just aren't good? Christ, at least up here we accept it. The good point is that I will no longer need to put up with the commentators banging on about England's next game. The bad point is that I'll have to put up with the endless "We was robbed!" moaning, as well as fanciful predictions of how England would have beaten whatever team happens to be playing at the time.

One day, in the very distant future, they'll get over themselves.

Which is still the worst defeat England have ever suffered in the World Cup. (In this case equal worst)

Typical Scottish pessimism. Mia culpa. I made the fanciful prediction that they would win their group.

And then that they would get knocked out in the Semi's which is exactly what I thought.

So if a Scotsman and an Englishman both predict the England team will do the same then I think we can conclude that we didn't overhype the team ;)

Congratz to Germany! I usually go to Germany on holidays, it's a brilliant country!
I know England is furious about Lampards dis-allowed goal, but in my opinion there was no way back for England and it was clear Germany was the better team.

I saw that on the news, i now going to follow whatever that octopus says.

As for england, well english fans look like  and germans like :disguise: A terrible game, but the germans deserved it in the end, our team (and our manager <_<) are overrated, and have been off the ball lately. Wonder what the odds are of capello getting sacked at the local betting shop ^_^

Actually, I predicted that England would fall to the first decent team they faced. Which they did.
