Yeah that's the game. The disallowed goal makes no difference at all now.

4-1

Germany want to win it without controversy. Great job by them to score those two goals!

If England want to have a shot at comming back in the game, they need to wake up and go on the offensive!

That is what I was going to say, yoiu beat me to it.

I find it funny how all these commentators say it was a goal and should have been. It's easy to say that when they are watching it in slow mo. Thing is, if you watch it for the first time at normal speed, you couldn't tell if it was a goal or not. I don't blame the ref or linesman, (sorry I forget the proper name for them) for not seeing it, how could you from thier potion?

At least the disallowed goal dosn't mean much now. England should have never ever allowed those 4 goals in the first place.

Well I know there's the whole morale thing but letting 2 more goals in after that is no excuse.

I don't know, I saw it. It was so far in it was easy to see because you see green between the ball and the line. The lineman might have had the pole in the way which would have kept him from seeing it though, given his angle. Either way though, England has seemingly gone away this half. You may be able to argue that it would have changed the flow of the game had it been tied but you can't argue the poor defending on the next two goals wouldn't have happened. That was just pitiful by England.

This is England's worst defeat in the World Cup if it stays like this. It can only get worse.

Well, it's not so much morale (Which is another issue), it's more the necessity for attack when you're trailing a goal. If England were 2-2 then it's pretty doubtful they would have been so exposed at the back when they were broken against, JT under normal circumstances wouldn't have been on the edge of their box from a throw in. Both of the goals were breakaways resulting from a necessary commitment of England players to the attack as a result of the 1 goal deficit.

Granted, the back 4 (Particularly the center halves) have been absolutely [censored].

It's normally around this time every 4 years I have to start rooting for the Dutch and this year is no different. :cryvaultboy:

So, Kaiser Franz was right again....England IS a tired team, burnt out by too many Premier League Matches.

I think it's more than just that.
IMO most of England's players are a bit old, especially when compared to Germany's. They need some new blood on their team.

You know, looking at the German Team (Or more truthfully, the German-Polish Team) makes me think this...

If we look at the world cup over the years, we see that the most sucessful teams have been Brazil, Germany, and Italy. Look at the average body types of the players of those teams over the decades 1960-2010. Notice anything?

Thin body, looooong legs, and explosive speed and contortionist agility. Body types like Diego Maradona are the exception that proves the rule.

Yeah, what Crypto said. It doesn't excuse the last half of the second half though. So depressing...

Personally I'm not feeling obliged to jump on the "OMG CAPELLO AND ALL THE PLAYERS ARE [censored]". Rooney has let us down, badly - our supposed only "World Class" player has been abysmal in every match. Lampard was the best player for us today but was rubbish in the previous 3. Gerrard played 'ok' in all 4 (was great first-half but shocking second half today). Terry was solid in the first 3 but was even worse than Rooney today. Milner, Ashley Cole and Defoe have probably maintained their reputation and Milner has arguably been our best player of the tournament.

Capello has played the same way that he played to qualify us. We were great in qualifying so I have no problem with him doing it now. He's been let down by the players.

Heskey will get a crazy amount of [censored] for no reason. Against USA he was MoM and against Algeria he was hardly the worst player.

I'll probably do a more thorough post-mortem on Tuesday after exams but this'll do for now.

But most of them have to go, they are too old and too slow for this German team, they can't still be there 4 years or even two years from now. Time to start afresh. Probably be Division One players mind you.

Agree. Capello takes at most 25% of the blame. The rest is the responsibility of the players.

Oh, I'm looking forward to the tabloid headlines tomorrow. Another reason to love being Welsh :P.

Though in all seriousness, that England team showed nothing in all the games to deserve going through.
