[REQ]Footprints in snow

Post » Fri May 18, 2012 5:07 pm

I hope you all have noticed - we don't leave footprints in snow.
Who can change it?
For PC, NPCs, animals, beasts?

I'd like this too but it would seem to be very hard to implant in the game.

You've obviously never met the Elder Scrolls modding community XD

Going to need a GE for something like this I suspect.

So, Skyrim supports these things called "lag bones" (you can see them in action on fire atronachs), as well as arbitrary bone additions to weapons and armor (weapon trails and similar effects are fully possible).

It shouldn't be too hard to get footprints going.

While we're at it, how about adding some cold breath effects, with it possibly speeding up during combat.

The cold breath feature is one of the biggest graphical absence in Skyrim. Jeez, does Beth do brainstorming on the blackboard like in school, remember? I remember my teacher use to say, "ok kids, what is the first thing we think about when we think about the DESERT?". The kids use to say, sand, scorpions, palm trees, camels, etc. How about SNOW, Bethesda? Cold breath? Deep footprints in the snow? Hypothermia? Those things would have been checked from the get go.

I like the cold breath thing, more for seeing it on other characters rather than in 1st person. Also more "I'm cold as heck" idle animations. You know how some of the modern FPS do? Guys rubbing their hands together, tucking them under their armpits, huddling their body, and such. New animations is a tall order though. :\

*Maybe* Santa (Beth) will give us some new animations in DLC. :sadvaultboy:

Adding my support for environmental realism effects. It's beyond my skill level but would love to see them.

One of the snow texture packs adds the look of footprints in the snow on paths, but this isn't what you mean.

I noticed that dragons leave footprint textures on the ground, so it should be possible to implement

Yeah, and the fact that flame and ice spells leave marks is also an indicator of the possibilities.....This whole, no footprint think has IRK'D me since release...I mean hell, games nowhere NEAR the scale of TES games have footprints in them....Get your ish togeather BETH!

I whole heartily agree with everything in this thread.
If anyone does do this, separate feet textures for beast races would be great.

I strongly support the creation of a mod that does all these things.

Good luck.
