Footstep Sound Issue

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 6:58 am

Hey.
I recently got the wonderful mod by Auryga that splits up parts of Cloud Ruler Temple into smaller meshes. Now, I have a mesh of the barracks with a wooden floor. I want to replace the wood with a stone floor because I want to use the barracks as a basemant instead. However, I can replace the texture in NifSkope but in-game I still get the wooden floor footstep sounds. Does anyone know how I can change the footstep sound to be the normal stone one?

Thanks

If you need the mesh for yourself, you can get it http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1QUYANL8 (on MegaUpload). Textures aren't included. If you use it, credits to Auryga.

I am also interested in the answer for this question, as I am using an invisible vanilla iron gate for a mod and I need to remove the metallic footstep sound. In my case, I want to remove it and have no footstep sound at all.

The mesh itself contains the 'Material' of the mesh, and the game plays the default sound for that material.

You would have to change the mesh (NIF) to change the sound of the footsteps on it.

So where it says something like "Material #38.00"? Do I just replace that number with the material number of a piece of stone? I'll have a try and tell you how I go.

The sound numbers can be found here: http://niftools.sourceforge.net/doc/nif/HavokMaterial.html

OK, I'm not quite sure what I need to do. Do I need Blender, or can this all be done in NifSkope? Could you please lay out all of the steps that I need to do.
Thanks.

You need to change the material in the collision mesh. The actual collision mesh may be a bhkConvexVerticesShape, a bhkBoxShape, a bhkMoppBvTreeShape, or something similar. In its Block Details, in the Name, Type, and Value columns respectively, you will see: Material, HavokMaterial, then one of the materials from the list linked to by WillieSea (HAV_MAT_STONE for example). This is what you need to change to change the sound, for example changing it to HAV_MAT_WOOD.

Ok. I did that but it only changed a bit of the whole mesh. The stone floor is still made of wood :(
Could someone change the mesh themselves? The link is in the OP.

Or just take some screenshots and walk me through step-by-step.
