For anyone else having trouble quoting posts...

Post » Wed Feb 26, 2014 7:19 pm

Just FYI.

Currently, there is not a separate forum for posting issues, so I thought I would throw this out here...

After joining the forum (and validating), I was not able to reply to a previous post using the quote option. While there may be other solutions, in my case I worked around it by enabling "Compatibility View" in IE, for this site. I am using IE 11, so other versions may act differently.

Hopefully that will help others facing a similar issue.

I hear you there. However, I am required to use IE for the companies that I work for, so I tend to use it at all times, to avoid constant switching, etc.

However, in this case my "fix" is marginal, at best...

While the compatibility setting change does allow me to reply to posts using the quote option, it also screws up the tool bar at the top of the forum page (profile, messages, logout, etc). I will reply again, if I find a better solution or work-around.

I'm not sure, but maybe it's due to your forums ranking

I know that poeple who haven't made enough posts can't post website links, so maybe its the same thing with quotes.

I first thought that might be the case, but when I could not find any info confirming that either way, I decided to try a few things. As I mentioned, enabling compatibility view for this site allows a quoted post like this one, but also messes up other features. I can also enable/disable the BBCode Mode in the editor, and "sort of" get around it, but so far I do not have a final solution.

I have seen several posts in other sites, suggesting that IE 11 (and 10) have this kind of problem, with some forum software.

You guys should check out http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1489239-troubles-with-the-forum-2/ in CD to report any issues with the forum since it is not ESO related :)

As for the quoting, I haven't had any issues but I have seen a couple of posters in threads mentioning that they use IE and have issues with quoting and other stuff.

These issues with IE have prevented me from quoting, copying/pasting, and posting links. Fortunately a way around the quote issue is to right click the quote option and then open a new tab from there. However, it is much easier to just use a different browser instead.
