for developers, i know Fallout 4 almost release now

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 10:28 am

could you tell us Fallout 4 has no bugs about non removable quest item problem in Fallout 3 and New Vegas?

some quests you finished then related quest items that still in your inventory and can't remove it freely unless you use console command to remove it.

i asked this because until now you didn't resolved these problem. so i worry about this problem will still in Fallout 4.

don't try to tell us that players can remove it by console commands....because this is not a regular way to solve this problem. because it is a bug you must admitted.

if you didn't check this, then i hope you will check this before it released, that's all i wanna say.

It probably has not been fixed. I feel that's not on their priority list.

The Witcher 3 has this same issue. You even carried old keys that you had used way back from the beginning of the game. But in TW3 carrying these old quest items wasn't really an annoyance because of how the inventory was designed. I like the fact that quest items are in their own private inventory away from other categories(weapons, misc., etc.) that could confuse or be forgotten by the player had they been tuck in there with the rest of the items.

Imo it's not that the quest items stay in your inventory but cannot removed, but more how these items have weight to them that over time stacks. I remember in Skyrim there was a quest item that weighed 10 lbs. By itself, which is the equivalent of a one handed weapon.

Yeah, that svcks to carry a dead brick when every single pound is golden. I don't recall if TW3 had weight for their quest items but CDPR did, however, at the request of fans, eliminated weight for herbs/ingredients which the player was accumulating fast thanks to the abundance of it. There was a mod that reintroduce the weight of ingredients. Lol, I guess developers can't win either way with fans. ^^

True, I just think for items like keys and quest item do not give them weight unless said item can used as a normal item ( and even then be reasonable with the amount) I.e. Skeleton key from TES, or if the quest item is a wieldable weapon , etc.

Yeah. Games that are" lootccentric" should be more careful on how they design the weight issue in order to make the game reasonable and convenient for the player but without making the whole thing op either. Being "realistic" with weight is sometimes undesirable from a design point of view.

Very true, but when I'm stuck carrying am elder scroll that weighs 10-20 lbs at least let me bash over somebody's head or something.

Quest items don't have a weight. They show a weight probably for lore/rp purposes but you'll notice that when you pick up a quest item it doesn't actually add any weight. I'd imagine it'd be the same in FO4

They're not actually pounds, they're just arbitrary units (unless you think a sword should weight 30lbs, and a piece of parchment 0.5lb).

This.

It's a common thing I am seeing with people complaining about the Elder Scrolls. First, they are important, you can't drop them anywhere, but you can sell them to the College of Winterhold (I think?). Second, they don't actually weigh anything.

Your probably right that the weight refers to units, I've just always shorthanded it to myself as lbs regardless if the weight seems realistic or not. Just my own quirk I suppose.

Typical claymore was between 5-6 lbs, with most one-handed swords ranging about 2-3 lbs.

Believe it or not, humans can't effectively swing something much heavier than that, too cumbersome and tiring.

So whatever weight units the Elder Scrolls (and possibly Fallout) uses, it ain't pounds or kilos. Hell, could even be an abstract that defines not just the weight of an item, but how cumbersome it is to lug around in a pack; something that is one pound but three feet to a side is a lot harder to carry than something three pounds but one foot to a side.

I'd like to know if there are physics improvements so that any placed object will now stay in place...and not send everything else flying around it if you try to move it or pick it up again.
