For skills that we don't master such as Smithing and Enchant

Do you think there will be masters in Skyrim that would do it for us for a fee?

I would hope so. That would be massively stupid to force people to pick up those skills just to get the most out of them when it makes perfect sense to have the ability to buy the services from someone else.

Same goes for everything really. If you can buy your way through the game, you deserve to. (unless you cheated to get your money, but thats a different issue. lets just assume you actually worked for your money)

I just hope its easier then some of the skills in oblivion, restoration was absolutely horrendous to master, I still have nightmares in my sleep of my characters hand casting restoration spells a thousand times just to get 1 skill point.

Same, I remember in fallout 3 there was a caravan dude who could repair your items to 100% but I had killed him before i found out. I would hope that aspect is fixed as well, I don't want to find out 100 hours later that the sap I killed on the road was really some high level armorer who could have created stronger weapons for me.

Well then don't kill random people on the road...

Yea I hope so. I'm going to be using Smithing a lot in my first playthrough, but i'm sure i'll want to mess with Enchanting a little bit too.

You sound stupid, so now I can't play freely as the game intends for me to do because I may kill someone who I may need later. Just like if you kill a quest giver someone else will take over the quest for them, i hope their are multiple people who can create and enchant at a master level.

I think alot of you are taking the question wrong, i'm not talking about trainers i'm talkibng about npc's who are masters themselves and can create and enchant at a master level for those of us who would rather get skills that will be useful in combat.

Every choice has a consequence in real life, why not in a game? Trying to justify a disadvantage you place yourself in by murdering an innocent Merchant Sounds far stupider then anything he said.

Yeah seriously, if you want to go around killing people you should have to deal with the consequences. Although hopefully NPCs won't be leveled in Oblivion, so maybe a master smith or master enchanter will be a formidable opponent and be very difficult to kill at low levels.

The best enchanted equipment will NOT beat the Daedric artifacts anyway (barring broken mechanics like camoflage) so no worries that you would not be able to get your Infinity +1 sword without a high enchantment skill.

Smithing on the other hand seems to be like weapon upgrading in mmorpgs that allows you to upgrade any existing weapon. So you may need to hold your homicidal tenancies in check until after you checked out the guy's smithing level.

I expect smithing and enchanting is mainly for the role-player merchants

Why is it stupid? It's your responsibility if you kill people with gay abandon; no one forced you to do it, so you deal with any consequences that come up.

Most likely. I just hope it's better than Oblivion where you pay them a small fee and your skill jumps up by a point.

I would actually like a small quest, nothing major but something small, attached to the training so that you felt you actually done something to earn it rather than just pay 500 gold to boost your Illusion skill +1

I also hated how you sometimes read books and out of nowhere +1 for blocking, wtf. I would rather the book was actually required to be read, i.e it mentions something that if you were to do it you would get a skill boost in the (_________) skill, as a one off boost, such as block 10x in a row without striking back in a fight. It would mean you have to read books and wouldn't make it so easy to gain points

I think the OP means a smith or enchanter with a skill of 100 that we can pay a fee to use their services to smelt us a weapon, or enchant something. That way we can have a weapon with full stats, but pay instead of having the skill required. I think that if they were meant to implement it, it should be either very expensive for a merchant with a skill of 100, or there's a cap on the level of the smith. Otherwise it defeats the purpose of raising the skill.

If that is what was meant sorry for my mis interpretation, although I stand by what I said about the other aspects of the game I mentioned.

As to what the OP meant, I think it would be a good idea providing it was very expensive. Much more expensive than buying a powerful generic weapon such as a deadric Claymore for 4000 gold. If you were to have a weapon specificallymade for you to the same spec it should cost double or even treble.

Otherwise like Nightfox said there would be no point is raising the skill

I'd argue just the opposite. If I can just pay a dude to make all that stuff for me then what incentive, gameplay-wise, do I have to become a master smith?
