So during the Final showdown with Alduin who is meant to be massive i think we should have an optional ability to transform ourselves into a dragon like martin did in Oblivion.

Sure, you'd just need the Amulet of Kings which is entirely intact and unharmed

While playing as a dragon could be pretty cool as a novelty, I would prefer to play as my character. :tops:

Where is the "I'm so bad, I can kick that dragons teeth in with my voice" option?

I want to use my sword, my shield, my voice and my own two hands. No pansy shapeshifting for me; I'll kill my enemies my way! :P

So basically... you want to transform into that which you need the blessing of your enemy to turn into so that you can defeat your enemy ?

Or do I have the whole Akatosh = Alduin thing mixed up somehow ?

How about a Shapeshifter, have Alduin switch between Dragon form and human form during the fight.

Well the problem with that is that the Amulet of Kings is destroyed, martin didn't turn into a dragon, he became a fiery avatar of Akatosh and what was that last part, oh yes, he died which kind've hurts your chances of continuing to play the game after you finish the main quest hehe.

To take on a dragon as a dragon would only serve to diminish the power and majesty of victory. The victory of the small and fragile mer or human over the armored might of Dragonkind, there is glory in that. I will have defeated all those dragons as a human, and I will grasp my ultimate victory over dragonkind as a human.

I want to take him (or her?) down as my human self, not as a dragon. It would be cool if the power you wielded was so epic that people who saw the fight would later say that they saw two dragons fight. Like how people could not look upon Tiber Septim without seeing the image of a dragon after he met with the greybeards.

The Dragons were banished from the world of Nirn a thousand years ago, as revealed by GI. How or why is unknown to us yet but part http://media1.gameinformer.com/images/site/pages/esv/images/info2.jpg on Alduin's Wall gives us a clue.

This cryptic image tells of Alduin’s fall to humanity’s ingenuity and bravery, but more than that is not known. This piece of the puzzle would be incredibly important to understand for someone new who might hope to defeat the dragons once again. Who are the individuals standing against Alduin? How did they expel the dreaded beast from the world? Perhaps the re-emergent Dragonborn will uncover the answers.

...

If Alduin would be defeated rather then banished, as he was before, it would result in another http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Dragon_Break. A Dragon Break is a phenomenon where linear time is broken, and becomes non-linear. The Dragon refers to the God of Time (known by many names: Akatosh, Alduin, Auriel, Alkosh see Tamriel Gods).

The Dragon Break: Section Five

Mannimarco, God of Worms, the Necromancers:

"The Three Thieves of Morrowind could tell you where they were. So could the High King of Alinor, who was the one who broke in the first place. There are others on this earth that could, too: Ysmir, Pelinal, Hans the Fox (but, then, this is really my warning to you, Arctus; I now know who you are). The Last Dwarf would talk, if they would let him. As for myself, I was here and there and here again, like the rest of the mortals during the Dragon Break. How do you think I learned my mystery? The Maruhkati Selective showed us all the glories of the Dawn so that we might learn, simply: as above, so below."

I take "'The Three Thieves of Morrowind'" to mean the Tribunal. "' High King of Alinor, who was the one who broke in the first place'" refers to Akatosh the first of the et'Ada to form an identity, bringing with him the concept of Time. I would think. And "'The Last Dwarf'" refers to Yagrum Bagarn who resides in the Divayth Fyr's Corprusarium.

Now the line, "'There are others on this earth that could, too: Ysmir, Pelinal, Hans the Fox (but, then, this is really my warning to you, Arctus; I now know who you are).'" According to The Imperial Library, during the Merethic Era, "An immortal hero, warrior, sorceror, and king variously known as Pelinal Whitestrake, Harrald Hairy Breeks, Ysmir, Hans the Fox, etc., wanders Tamriel, gathering armies, conquering lands, ruling, then abandoning his kingdoms to wander again" It appears that Mannimarco is claiming that The immortal hero, known by many names, is also Zurin Arctus (Tiber Septim's Battlemage and The Underking). (I EXPLAINED THIS IN http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1152130-the-story-behind-skyrim-v20/page__view__findpost__p__16863989) Which makes sense sense Pelinal Whitestrake, Harrald Hairy Breeks, Ysmir, and Hans the Fox are all known to be Shezzarines or Avatar for Lorkhan AKA Shor.

So they are basically saying you can ask Lorkhan The God of the Underworld http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1150358-skyrim-trailer-breakdown/page__st__100__p__16838257#entry16838257.

Finally, "'As for myself, I was here and there and here again, like the rest of the mortals during the Dragon Break. How do you think I learned my mystery? The Maruhkati Selective showed us all the glories of the Dawn so that we might learn, simply: as above, so below.'" This seems to fit into the theory of a shift or Warp in time.

I don't think we will actually defeat Alduin because it would result in a Dragonbreak, or break in time. We'll find a way to stop him from destroying Nirn and Mankind and banish him back to where he cannot enter.

I'd rather not face him at all.
How about a non com ending, heck I'll write it myself..

Alduin "rrrroooooarrrrr".
Player "cough, cough, ehhhm, excuse me."
Alduin "Punny mortal I shall eat your world" .
Player "well that's not very nice, I banish you with the power of James Brown's voice."
Alduin "rrroooaaarr, nooo you've defeated me with a power greater than my own"
"heed my warnings though, this is just the beginning for ( insert X here ) is to come."

Edit: stupidly mistook what the blasted dragon was called.

Why would it result in a dragonbreak? We still haven't proven that Alduin is indeed Akatosh. We will have to wait until Skyrim to find out.

@Madocmayhem Alduin: Noooo, James Brown's voice, my only weakness!

While I am with Sleign on this (way too many assumptions abound on this forum based on incomplete information), provided you are correct, isn't the act of banishing Alduin, in fact, defeating him?

Going a bit into lore, would not the reappearance of dragons itself symbolise a dragon break.
As a bunch of dead non existant beasts of huge power reappearing one day, as well as the Dragonborns rebirth.
Would seem like a non linear break in time itself to me.

Off topic: Let's hope he does not get Lulu as an ally in the fight to counteract Brown's power.

I hope you don't have to fight a god. There should be a cooler ending than just a stupid fight, fighting is for mortals.
