For the love of god, bethesda

Post » Sat Dec 03, 2011 7:39 am

I lack any self-control to face a challenge like a true Son of Skyrim, and I resort to the console commands or difficulty slider to make up for my lack of ability to come back later to fight. Furthermore, because I dislike using something that I say is required to be able to fight, and don't have the self-control to not use it, I demand it be removed.

Dear god, get a hold of yourself and not use it if it bothers you. I personally think that Bethesda has made a flawless game, and if you can't prevent yourself from using the console or difficulty slider, it's your own damn fault.

Honestly, all this kvetching by people with no self control leads me to believe they need a welfare office in Solitude.

So the game is bad because it has a difficulty slider and cheats...

Good luck playing no other games, because they have those as well...

Wow, while it has occurred to me that I could use either of these two things, haven't actually had the impulse to touch either one. Strange.

all of you probably play on novice difficulty and plow through the game, so you most likely have no appreciation of the challenge the game has to offer. putting such a difficulty slider in game that could drastically increase challenge or remove all challenge completely is rediculous. let me put it this way,

"This guy has killed me twice already, what should i do? go do some quests and level up a few more times, or simply put it on novice? HMMMMMM"

why do you think all games dont have an in game difficulty slider? is it because the developers assume that everyone will have the self control not to use it?

no its not that you need self control, its that you need patience. you guys are defending the game because you are little fangirls of the elder scrolls series. seriously, this is a real problem, and id atleast like to have the OPTION to disable these 2 features before i start the game.

What's the point in buying a game if all you're going to do is use the console to cheat?

If you can't be bothered to complete a quest and just get the loot with a cheat, what's the point? Is that fun? Because it sounds bloody boring to me. That's all the incentive I need not to cheat.

[Edit] I'd say the difficulty slider is there for more casual gamers. I DO NOT SAY THIS AS AN INSULT. It's just that, yeah, some people don't have the time or inclination to back out of a dungeon and go off somewhere else for a bit until they are up to the challenge, so the slider lets them play how they want. That's the ethos behind this type of game after all - be whoever you want, play however you want.

I really can't believe you're serious.

You want the developers to put in an option to disable something that you don't have to use? You're the only one who seems to lack the willpower/patience to play the game on one difficulty level.

I play on Adept. I once fought this wizard that was WAY stronger than me, and could kill me with 1 hit of his ice magic. I had to fight him about 25 times to finally figure out the strategy I was going to use to beat him. It took everything I could come up with, including a bow, poisons, a dragon shout, spells, a staff, and a sword. Never once did it even occur to me to use the console or the difficulty slider.

Rather, I wanted to figure out how to beat him. Don't randomly accuse people of silly things. You don't have to use the difficulty slider. Plenty don't. I don't. I'm sorry if that bothers you.

God Almighty, you're going to force me to re-read the OP. Better be right about that...

*edit*
You ask for the opportunity to disable the slider at the beginning? Why would you choose that option, given that you don't have the willpower to not use it in the first place?

lol i love it when people who sit down with a calculator powergaming their "tunes" in a single player RPG gripe for exploits and cheating with a console. It's like complaining to mcD's because you are fat, jack D because your drunk, and ford for speeding tickets in your mustang.

I love how you complain about optional features then ask Bethesda to limit our control over them, and them scold them because you can't control yourself...

If console commands spoil the game for you, you might enjoy it more on an XBox or PS3.

Do you blame Herseys for being fat too?

You're pretty much the only one who can decide how you play this game. Just leave it on default settings, don't touch the console and pick your fights. Problem solved.

If you had any self-control, you'd go and level up to come back. Just because you lack the ability to do that, doesn't mean we all play on Novice. To say such a thing betrays your ignorance.

I play on Adept. I've died countless times. You know what I do in response? I run like a sissy girl to level up, come back, and blow their doors down. Or I blow through my potions to power through the challenge. I play on the XBOX, so I can't use the console commands. But I actually have some self-control, so I could stop myself from doing so if I did.

Stop taking out your lack of self-control on Bethesda, and dissing people that point out the flaws in your argument. That's a valid tactic for you to use when you're in grade-school, but it doesn't work on the internet.

Also, I am a really devoted fan of TES. That doesn't make my argument useless. So what if I like a game? I know lack of self-control, lack of skill, lack of respect, or lack of understanding when I see it. And I can tell you, you lack several of those.

No that's Mcdonalds people blame, "Oh McDonalds made me fat, I'm sueing" lol

Based on his posts I can tell this is the first TES game he has ever owned...
