Do you blame Herseys for being fat too?

You're pretty much the only one who can decide how you play this game. Just leave it on default settings, don't touch the console and pick your fights. Problem solved.

all of you probably play on novice difficulty and plow through the game, so you most likely have no appreciation of the challenge the game has to offer. putting such a difficulty slider in game that could drastically increase challenge or remove all challenge completely is rediculous. let me put it this way,

"This guy has killed me twice already, what should i do? go do some quests and level up a few more times, or simply put it on novice? HMMMMMM"

why do you think all games dont have an in game difficulty slider? is it because the developers assume that everyone will have the self control not to use it?

no its not that you need self control, its that you need patience. you guys are defending the game because you are little fangirls of the elder scrolls series. seriously, this is a real problem, and id atleast like to have the OPTION to disable these 2 features before i start the game.

It sounds like you're blaming Bethesda when you should really be blaming your lack of self-control...

:whistling:

this pretty much sums up my thoughts..

the OP didnt have the self discipline or self control or patience to stay away from the dev console..he ruined his own game by bending to temptation to eat just one more chip from the bag..now the bag is empty he wants to blame the company for guiding his own hand (freedom of choice anyone?) back into the bag too many times.

this kind of reminds me of people who want to sue Mcdonalds for making them fat...when it was thier own 2 feet and free will that carried them into the store and their own choice that made them order too many big macs

There is nothing significant to contribute to this thread because it is an insignificant thread. You are unable to control yourself, so you want the 'gob'ment to hep yoself'.'

Bethesda did put in a function to prevent you from changing the difficulty. It's called a slider bar. If you don't want the difficulty changed, you don't slide it...

Weak willed fool.

What... ? You need Bethesda to program self control into this game? I think you should just not touch console commands or difficulty slider.
Bethesda used to have it where the game leveled up with you. In Skyrim, there are set levels for each area, so if you are dying, its because that area is too strong for you. Just stop and go to an easier dungeon. Simple as that.

Your accusing everyone of playing on novice, yet your the one who cheats to plow through the game, and also lowers the difficulty if its too hard.
I play on medium. I don't want to plow through this game, because quite frankly, I can't! When I fight something hard, I either try different ways to kill it, or leave and kill some other things before coming back stronger with better weapons. Its crazy to lower the difficulty just because you can't help yourself. No idea how your argument is valid at all.

why the hell is everyone [censored]ing about an option that wouldnt affect them?

every single person has posted something like "LOL OP HAS NO SELF CONTROL LOL HES STUPID AND FAT LOL CMON GUYS LAUGH WITH ME MAKE ME FEEL GOOD"

if youre playing the game fine , then you dont need to post. but if the option was put in place, would it affect any of you? no, most likely not. people need to grow up on these threads. obviously no one on these forums has any decency to provide any helpful information or suggestions, other than what OP already mentioned.

I think everyone who is ganging up on OP is a bit immature. I do not have a problem with the console, as you do actually have to know the item code and whatnot, but the difficulty slider does spoil the challenge of the game for me, if you have ever gotten frustrated and had to turn it down you might know what I mean. I like to be abused in my rpgs. To the point where I am forced to find some way to go on, and it does take away from the satisfaction afterwards. I actually didn't see the slider in the game yet (pc), just the "adept", "novice", "expert", choices, I thought they did away with the slider. But it ended up ruining oblivion for me, even if I didn't use it, I knew that I was spending hours leveling up when I could just turn an in game option down and beast the entire game. Theres nothing wrong with a challenging game.

They're not saying you're fat, oNIs. People actually do sue McDonalds for making them fat - what people here are saying is you're trying to do the same thing. YOU used the Console commands. YOU. Not Bethesda. Not me. YOU. It's your issue. Don't do it, and you won't have a problem. You could murder a person right now if you want with a knife. But you won't. So don't cheat in the game, and you won't... cheat.

this post is my rant on 2 choices bethesda has made which made this 300+ hour game into a 30- hour game

First, then ingame difficulty slider. this completely ruins any need to "work" to get stronger, when you can simply change it anytime. There is no consenquences for turning it all the way down, yet no rewards for turning it all the way up. i know some people think "just dont use it" but when your in a dungeon and youve been killed 5 or 6 times, your pretty much force to use it.

Stopped reading there.

You're complaining that a dungeon is treacherous. If you want to zerg into every single cave you see without any concern for your life, and you die 5 times and it still does not occur to you that you can run away... I don't know. I'm so tired.

Alright, OP.

You're obviously wrong, as evident by the dozens upon dozens of people agreeing with you. Now, you resort to acting like a child and insulting the people that disagree with you, trying to make yourself look smarter. To me, at least, it has the opposite effect, and you look like an idiot.

If you have constructive criticism, voice it. But don't whine about an optional feature you lack the self-control not to use, and then say that everybody else plays on Novice if they disagree with you. That's a child's tactic. In fact, you look more and more childish the longer this threads progresses.

You just spoke of yourself, as the OP, in the third person.

The only one needing to grow up and get some self control is you. And you are showing an serious lack of it based on your replies in this thread. It's people like you that are the reason we have a gazillion laws in the US because weak willed self-controless simps like you needs those laws to nanny-state yourself into some kind of cattle herd...

No it wouldn't affect me, same as the slider doesn't affect me, so why do you need to feel like the slider must be used? If you really need something to stop yourself, then get in a skype call, and tell me whenever you are about to use the slider, and I'll tell you not to. OR DO IT YOURSELF.
Seriously, if you feel it is breaking the game, tell yourself not to use it. Its that simple.

I was just fighting a Draugh Overlord in a dungeon on expert level (which I have not changed since the character creation), I was killed atleast 20 times before discovering the right strategy. It didn`t even cross my mind to touch the difficulty slider, not even once. I was about to back out from the entire dungeon if I wouldn`t figure it out.
The game having console and difficulty slider is not a problem, you have a problem with them. I`m not a little fangirl lol, you are a little girl who has a problem with her approach into this game. :celebration:

Right. People disagree with you, so they're obviously zealous female fans. My thirteen year-old cousin could bring up better arguments with his ass.

Why would you provide constructive criticism about a problem you have in a game? I dunno, to try to get it fixed. [censored]ing and whining won't bring Bethesda's eyes forward. You have to establish valid arguments, valid options, and a legit reason to add it. Adding an option to disable an optional function is a redundant, stupid idea. No game developer would seriously consider adding it.

Maybe they would consider adding another option, though. One that makes sense, and would actually work. Such as the difficulty slider being locked in dungeons, in combat, or both. That would easily solve your problem of lack of self-control, without being a ridiculous idea.

So, think up a better argument and you MIGHT get support. But when you demand that an optional thing have an option to be permanently disabled, and then verbally attack anybody who disagrees with you with a volley of insults and hate, you aren't going to get ANY support.
