There's a bit of confusion here, as to males playing female characters: it has *nothing* to do with homossixuality, which I think is what some guys are somewhat afraid of being related to.

I am straight and love to see that attractive, intelligent character trying to get her revenge. It just *feels* much more interesting and challenging playing a female seductive spy who has to use a good deal of strategy and planning to achieve her goals.

Plus, obviously, I love occasionally seeing her curves in that tight thong and such :shocking: (though u need some mods, for starters, some beauty mod as Beth is notorious for uggliness and plain bodies...).

there are two distince rp audiances:
ones that rp a projection of them selves
and
ones that rp a projection of others.

I like playing female character but not for Role Playing. I just enjoy it like movies or playing Tomb Raider.
Doesn't work for MMO or games with marriage/relationship feature though (i.e DAO, Fable, etc) always find it icky.
For such games I tend to roleplay, as male. In Skyrim too.

Oooh, good point about MMO. It's a bit different if there's a real man behind the character you're chatting up. Possibly getting excited about my virtual cleavage. Yeah, not keen on that idea.

I'm a male playing a female. Her background is in my sig and it may explain a little about who her future spouse may be. While she may be attracted to other females, there is a background reason for it.

The only time I played a female who romanced a male was in DAO to get the achievement for Z. Didn't really like it. Male on male just really turns me off personally so I can't even role-play that.

I've always found the whole "Roleplaying as a female" thing a bit weird if you're male.
It seems to be akin to having a living doll that carries out your every command.
Sort of... Serial killer-ish.

EDIT: Although, who am I to judge? I plan to play as an anthropomorphic kitty cat.

D:

Thats wierd. No, its nice being a woman without having to literally start wearing the clothes and stuff :D

I played dragon age origins and romanced alistair, im a guy playing a girl, but I fell for him <3

Also, so many freaking male characters in other games, if I can play as a woman, I damn well will play as a woman!

Sometimes im a lisbian woman, but thats only if the other female characters are endearing (e.g. Liara ME)

This most probably. That said my first playthrough will be male, and I'm pretty sure that he will actually be gay, so maybe that balances out (I'm a straight guy, btw). But regardless of the character I'm playing, when choosing a male for my character I'll probably go for a character that has interesting dialogue choices. And a character that I think suits my anti-hero, who is seeking redemption. If he also makes for a good combat companion, that would be great, but isn't necessary. I have no idea about race; Redguard maybe?
man thats a good idea! i think that would make the game more interesting...

Guys who think it's gay for boys to play girls in video games are just insecure about their sixuality. There is nothing even remotely gay about playing a girl.

I am ok with it so long as he buys me a drink first, or that shiny new briastplate from the Auction House :whistling:

I would create an imperial female, by the name of "The Black Widow", and lure suitors across Skyrim only for the purpose of congregating their delicious and wholesome noble blood to feed on. Of coarse the "luring" will be done by my heroine's remarkable beauty...on the outside...and the feeding..will be done all at once like some blood orgy, thus it is now I must ask:

Any takers?

*cough*

If I do decide to create a female character then it will probably be a Black Widow type character who mates with men then eats them.

I like to have at least one female character because I like to make them the complete opposite of what I see myself since I am role playing. So I find it fine to have a female character and be a male.

i wonder what kind of male npc you will choose to be your character's husband. what sort of things you will look into when it comes to finding your ideal and perfect dream husband for her? :talk: .

what race and class is your character going to be?.
LOL! I don't think my female Nord, spider hunter will be getting a husband. :flamethrower: :flamed:

I did a black widow type for Mass Effect 2, quite possibly the most interesting character I've played in that game, might give it a try for Skyrim.

I think people put in too much thought about the implications about why men play as female characters. Has it not occurred to you that maybe they want something nice to look at (3rd person)? I don't picture myself in these roles, I just pick a character I think I'll like playing as and put some of my personality into it. It's like playing Hawke or Shepard, you're not them, they are you.

Naturally, if my characters have a husband, that guy will resemble me. They'd be a big Nord, strong but somewhat clumsy, but also smarter than average.

I haven't decided on a race or path (there's no classes) for my first character yet but I'll likely play many different ways. I'm leaning towards the stealth path for my first playthrough.

Male here, playing a female shaman as my first character in Skyrim.

Past TES games:

Arena - Female Battlemage

Daggerfall - Male Healer - My Step-daughter played the female, and I had to help her now and then

Morrowind - Male Healer - But sometimes a female because of the Metal Queen Botique.

Oblivion - Female Priestess of Mara.

Knock-Knock above said it.

"there are two distince rp audiances:
ones that rp a projection of them selves
and
ones that rp a projection of others.
"

My characters are not me in the game. They are themselves, like players on a stage, and I am the director.

Sibyl will be a straight female. She will definately flirt. If she marries, (she probably will) it will be to a human or Altmer male. One who can help her, love her, and protect her.
He will be handsome, romantic, loyal and strong. They will share adventures as well as their lives and souls.

Together, they shall dance close to the fire.

I thought it was "many men online role playing girls."

That said...... yeah, I tend to play female characters. But that's because I don't see the character as "me", I see it as an action figure or playing piece that I'm moving around on the game board. So if I'm going to play dress-up with a doll? I'm going to make it one I like. Also, I tend to like movies & TV shows with kick-butt female protagonists - they're cool. :)

But honestly, I wasn't really looking to take advantage of the whole relationship thing in Skyrim. Because, as shallow as that stuff is in Bioware's games? I can't see Beth making anything nearly that deep. (Their skill is in world building. Not the kind of strong story & interpersonal dialogue you'd need to even have the basis for a "romance subplot".)

I've planned two characters so far, and one of those is female. She's an Imperial. She won't enter into Skyrim intending to pursue romance, and whether or not she'll find it is yet to be seen, but if she did she would choose someone respected and important.

I learned my lesson about playing female characters in WoW.

Even playing as a female orc wasn't safe.

Male first time around. Evil powerful no mercy female second time around... and like oblivion, most likely will need a mod, I will create a playboy mansion with all women... only to call my real wife to see my accomplishments so that I can get that look of "oh boy!!" which always makes me laugh when I get it from her... hee hee

It's different in MMOs because you play together with other random people.
