for the men playing as a female character

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 11:04 pm

i wonder what kind of male npc you will choose to be your character's husband. what sort of things you will look into when it comes to finding your ideal and perfect dream husband for her? :talk: .

Why the hell would my character(s) get married?! It's the lamest feature of Skyrim IMO

Two characters, one is not the marrying type, and the one that is isn't interested in a "husband"... ;)

This most probably. That said my first playthrough will be male, and I'm pretty sure that he will actually be gay, so maybe that balances out (I'm a straight guy, btw). But regardless of the character I'm playing, when choosing a male for my character I'll probably go for a character that has interesting dialogue choices. And a character that I think suits my anti-hero, who is seeking redemption. If he also makes for a good combat companion, that would be great, but isn't necessary. I have no idea about race; Redguard maybe?

Oooooh how thrillingly liberal of you! (Imagine this as said by the Hedonismbot in Futurama)

I'm not being sarcastic or political or opinionated or anything, I honestly think that's pretty cool of you =o]
Somebody else asked why you would, and I'm curious too but I realize it fits well into the whole concept that is role-playing. Good on you for not being one of the guys that feels any deviation from heterosixuality/being attracted to women - no matter how fictional - is a sure sign they will immediately have a desire to seek out their local gay-bar and leave it all on the floor.

Being honest, I would identify as bi, and if I play a female character I would marry a man. Not because I have anything against lisbians (that would be stupid on my part..) but because if it's a f-f relationship I just don't really connect with it. I'm definitely going to play a gay Bosmer Assassin, and I probably will play a female Nord warrior, but I want to have a straight (human) male character to get with the ladies so not sure what I'll do at this stage. I'm going to play as Argonian and Khajiit males as well but I can't connect for the same reason as having a lisbian character - I'm not a lizard or a cat and am not attracted to such =oP

I'm not going to waste my time reading this entire thread but I read enough to know
the typical responders showed up to spout their requisite venom.

For the super manly men that bothered to post how they can't grasp how any real man
could deign to play a character of another gender in a ROLE play game I'd most likely
surmise your too high on the evolutionary scale to deign to write fiction.

Lord forbid you ever wrote a fiction novel that included female characters and would have to come
up with dialog and viewpoints of the females in your written work. No, that would be very un-manly and
would make you very uncomfortable with yourself. You would then be forced to jump to conclusions
of the derogatory sort regarding any 'man' that would do such a thing.

Oh, such as the author of the Honor Harrington Sci-Fi series, and other weirdos. Yah.

I should not respond to threads when I wake up as I'm grumpier than usual at this time, however the jack a_sian respondents
who posted have to be responded to in kind.

What the hell difference does it make to you how I play my fantasy role play game?

Yes, for the record, as if that farking matters. I'm a hetero male who tends to role** females in most games I play that are of this nature.
I don't have a urge to do serial murder or any of the other child like assertions I"ve seen on page one.

Yes, I do write creative fiction on as a sideline. I do enjoy different viewpoints and thought experiments. I don't enjoy running into pinheads, and I suppose I should avoid internet forums where you tend to show up..

Have a nice day.

Edit** Yes that was intentional. I 'verbified' that on purpose.

Ugh, relationships. Not for me thanks, no matter which gender I play. Far too busy saving the world or just killing people to be settling down with another half.

I will play a female Nord ( I visualize her as a dark, brutal, silent, fantasy-viking type of a warrior ). She is into combat though, not into planning a family. She has higher goals in her mind - She is the Dovahkiin after all!

p.s. She is sixy, but she does not know it. I do though... hahaha

I agree with you, 100%.

I play as a female because I want to see how she veiws the world, want to play out her story. I'm doing a number of creative writing myself and, yes, my hero is a female.

Yes, she'll (My Skyrim character) buy a house and get married. Whether she marries another female or a man is her buisness.

I asked my husband this just now, and he responded with "I'd make my character look like you, then try to find an NPC that looked similar, and get them to have some lisbian action"...

I'm not sure whether to be flattered, or creeped out.

It's different in MMOs because you play together with other random people.

The lesson I learned was never tell people you play a female character.

Edit: Regardless, I still make female characters, they just aren't my main, usually. I'm going to have a female redguard or female orc knight as my second or third playthrough. I'll probably marry another knight on her.

Man, I likely will never play a female character but if I did I would prolly look for the most masculine female Orc, Nord or Redguard the Xena warrior princess type. I absolutely could never play a female and marry a male in this or any other game. Feels like too much of a diparture from how I think.

Role playing is another form of expression, I never concern myself with telling others, especially on forums, I know the more mentally mature folk will be understanding.
I actually find it kinda of funny about people being in a "closet" about "roleplaying" a gender, just brings a smile to my face.

My main female will never get married she will not have time for such frivolous nonsense!

What I do with my other characters will be a different story, I will make one who will get married just so I can see what it's like. I want to explore as much of this game a possible but my main will be the [censored] kicker, who will break your neck if you look at her wrong :dead:

I learned my lesson about playing female characters in WoW.

Even playing as a female orc wasn't safe.

I'm starting to find that playing a female in Age of Conan. I've only met one real creep though. Whenever we would stop to wait for another team mate to catch up or something he would crouch in front of me and put his face right up against my crotch as if he was doing you know what. It was kind of pathetic. I should have told him that if he put his face under my tasset he might find himself face to face with the last turkey in the shop.

I'll likely play a male char, but if I did play a lady, she'd be a lisbian.

It'll depend entirely on the characterisation of the NPCs. My first character is a facsimile of myself, so I'll be gunning for a lady Nord most probably, but after that if I play a female character she'll probably be choosing the NPC who intrigued/entertained me the most in a previous playthrough. If it's my female serial killer playthrough though, I might just make her a black widow, so that'll be the NPCs who annoyed me the most...

I frequently play female characters (and I'm a guy) in roleplaying games. I always play them as straight, and if one ever takes a mate, it'll be a guy, but that's just me. Roleplaying is whatever you make of it, and if you want to play a lisbian female, why not? Roleplaying is about leaving the real world for a while and do whatever you want.

So let's say that I'm playing a female orc, and she decides to get married, what would she be looking for?

Well, obviously, she would want to be getting married to someone that makes her feel safe, welcome, loved, and... and...

... and ... probably not anything she'd ever find in an NPC?

Then again, she'd likely be a criminal, so maybe she'll be marrying for base lustful reason? (like... money?) Or maybe she'd just go for a cute guy? It would be nice though if he had some personality.

Anyways, you asked about what I would be looking for, and as a general rule I try to make decisions like that based on how I feel my character would feel. And in a computer game, that's could easily come down to maybe one sentence of interaction as the entirety of an extended courtship.

Does this help?

I've always liked female heroes in fiction, so I enjoy playing them in games. Usually named after a Jane Austen character. Like Miss Bingley.

But Miss Bingley will remain a spinster. No happy endings for her, just a life of blood and turmoil

This thread>Everything else

lol

Well. You see, my male to female character ratio goes something like this 1:3.

You guys paid attention in math class so you know ratios, right?

I enjoy playing female characters more only because it seems out of the norm for most guys my age who play video games. I like to mix it up.

Anyway...

My first female will most likely be a mage with a dash of light-armored combat.
So...
Light Armor
One-Handed
Alteration
Restoration
Conjuration
Destruction

And I will probably marry a woman or go single the whole game. I know, typical guy choice.

But if I were to go with a man. A tall, strong Nord. lol
