Thanks. No kids, no Arena, no spears :\. Game is still going to be awesome though. Can you fish? I know this isn't the right topic to discuss fishing >.> but just a quick question.

I'm not really going on the whole marriage thing in the first place. If any of my chars get married it will be a craftsman or some other "stay-at-home" characters.

You can catch fish, but it's less sitting with a pole and more bearing it up and grabbing the slippery bastards.

From what's been witnessed so far, the player can only fish by being near them and catching with bare hands, no pole fishing has been noted.

You can catch fish. I won't use the term 'fishing' to describe it, though.

LOL. Interesting though, catching fish with your bare hands. Now that is nice ;). Haven't seen any gameplay of it, but now that some sort of 'fishing' has been incorporated(one of the most important skills throughout history.) it will feel much more realistic. So we can 'fish', cut down trees, smith/craft weapons, possibly armor, we can craft alchemy ingredients, spells...we can hunt(technically with the bow, since the mechanics look much better and there are more natural animals in the game it's pretty much easier to hunt)

OP: 'd marry a blacksmith or a mage...never can go wrong with that.

I've always found the whole "Roleplaying as a female" thing a bit weird if you're male.
It seems to be akin to having a living doll that carries out your every command.
Sort of... Serial killer-ish.

EDIT: Although, who am I to judge? I plan to play as an anthropomorphic kitty cat.

:P

The one female character I have planned isn't the kind to get married, so it won't be awkward.

I can't speak for everyone, but I can speak for myself. Any time I play a game where I can choose the gender (Mass Effect, KOTOR, you name it), I ALWAYS choose a female. I actually did recently start a Mass Effect 2 save with a male Sheppard, but nine times out of ten, I will choose a female if it can be helped.

Why? Because when I play a video game where I can create a character, and it becomes my avatar to journey through the story with, I want to be as far removed from who I am in real life as possible. What is more different to who I am than a female Bosmer archer/mage? Not a whole lot. To me, these kinds of games are about being someone totally different. And that's as different as I can get from my real life persona of a 25 year old male. It helps me to get more invested in what I'm doing on the whole, to be someone completely different from myself.

.................well, that and chicks are hot.
