I'm not even sure I will play as a female, never did it in Oblivion so I doubt I will in Skyrim. However if I actually end up playing as a female I would marry another female that is if any of them are even worth marrying

I have another question: How many PM's do we think Nadya5 has had from teenage boys so far?

Considering the topic of the thread is about guys pretending to be girls, I'd have thought alarm bells would be ringing in even the most hormone fueled teenage mind right now. Heh, heh.

Sorry Nadya, just kidding.

I don't think romance will be on my character's mind. Just not really interested in that kind of stuff in video games - I'd rather be exploring, solving puzzles or killing monsters, not getting hitched.

M'aiq if possible. Probably mod it in if not...
Otherwise I guess we'll just see. Both genders are an option though for any character I make.

i wonder what kind of male npc you will choose to be your character's husband. what sort of things you will look into when it comes to finding your ideal and perfect dream husband for her? :talk: .

what race and class is your character going to be?.

I do not understand why some of us males play as female characters. I have only played as a female in an rpg once, and that was because the classes were gender specific in Baldur's Gate. I was dead set on using magic, and the female elf was the only option. I imagined her being celibate or something, since having babies would put a stop in the adventuring I think. It felt really wierd the whole time, to be honest. I don't know how other guys enjoy it.

I will never roleplay a female character in Skyrim or any TES game, because I project my own personality into my characters.

I am not feminine enough for such a feat as cross-gender roleplaying.

Eh? This one requires further explanation.

When I played Fallout New Vegas I wanted to be a straight female, but the only action I saw was Red Lucy. No one else showed any interest. Oh, tell a lie, I seduced Benny and killed him in his sleep, but that was "unfinished business"

OK, here's another question. How many male players will (deliberately) play an unattractive female? Have to admit, no chance for me. All my characters male or female have been as hot as I can make them.

I would never play as an unattractive female. They are my works of art, and I want them to be beautiful because I care.

I wouldn't play as an ugly guy either.

This most probably. That said my first playthrough will be male, and I'm pretty sure that he will actually be gay, so maybe that balances out (I'm a straight guy, btw). But regardless of the character I'm playing, when choosing a male for my character I'll probably go for a character that has interesting dialogue choices. And a character that I think suits my anti-hero, who is seeking redemption. If he also makes for a good combat companion, that would be great, but isn't necessary. I have no idea about race; Redguard maybe?
Why would you play gay az a straight guy? Im honestly curious and not flaming.

I've always found the whole "Roleplaying as a female" thing a bit weird if you're male.
It seems to be akin to having a living doll that carries out your every command.
Sort of... Serial killer-ish.

EDIT: Although, who am I to judge? I plan to play as an anthropomorphic kitty cat.

I use to think this until I realised you're going to spend hundreds of hours staring at a male character's backside (third person view) for the majority of the game. So I switched to a female character.. believe me it was better sight to stare at for those hundreds of hours.

I was going to play as a female, since practically every game I own has a male lead character, and it gets quite old after a while, it's just good to change things up a bit really.

As for my husband, as long as he's cute it's all good really. All good. Unfortunately for him I was going to be the ugliest, fattest Orc out there though.

As a gay man I'm going to play as a man who is gay.

This was my first thought too, but I guess I'll save that for Mass Effect 3.

My first major, which will be female, wil not descriminate by either race or gender. As long as they ae hawt, and rich, they will all die on the wedding night, and be dumped in a river somewhere, after I've stripped them off their clothes and possessions. :D
Until I find a female NPC I'd actually sympathize with. Then I'd prolly marry her for keepers on a future male char aswell. <3

yes same here. only game i played as a male was the witcher. i loved the books. there is only a male lead character (like in most games) i would have prefered having the option to play as tris merigold or jenefer instead , but you eventually get used to playing as a male character. sadly many game companies seem to forget that we modern girls play video games too.

for me will depend on the way the characters look, it is obvious that as a girl is way easier for me to relate to a female character, but playing as a male can be an interesting and different approach . so i will probably make male and female characters of all races at some point. it also is going to depend on how much free time i will have.

Depending on how badass the dual wield short blade animations are I'll probably play a female elf rogue type at some point.

In the past whenever I have played female characters, they have always been some amalgamation of idealized characteristics from various females I have known or admired in real life or in movies/shows/books, etc. I don't mean physical attributes so much either. That part I more or less let happen how it does. Maybe body mods if the armor selections that come out favor one specific custom type and it isn't too over the top.

It is more about creating a new unique personality, then thinking about how that personality would react to a given situation. Basically role playing, which is as much about creating new identities as it is projecting aspects of your own into a fantasy scenario, though for my male characters I find that is more the focus.

I never found it weird, because I would never say or think or act like that in real life as MY personality. I guess I'm just secure enough in my identity that I can put it on a shelf and become something else, without any questionable creepy bleed through effects.

Even if my girls are all punchy love kittens!

EDIT: Someone pointed out Baldur's Gate having certain classes require a certain gender. To me that is part of how it is when I role play. Certain character types just go better with female characters.

I do suppose it's different for people like me who prefer to play in third person. I don't project myself into my characters at all. That would be awful, I'm the complete opposite of your typical fantasy hero. If I had to be involved in a war in a fantasy world, I'd be a cook or something like that, and I'd only serve nice and warm vegetable/legume stews and things like that. I don't even like mead. Now if an RPG came along where I could actually project that into a character and it'd still be fun, maybe then I would. Until then, I play RPGs in a way that feels like being told a story about a character of my design. Having some experience with pen&paper RPGs probably helps. When I play a female character, it's a story about a strong and beautiful heroine, rather than a big, burly, dirty barbarian. Basically, the kind of woman I would like to meet if I lived in a world like TES. Nothing against barbarians of course, but there are plenty of RPGs where I have to play that by design, so I don't see why I'd have to do it again when a game comes along that gives me a say in it. I also like reading novels that feature strong female leads for pretty much the same reasons, traditional fantasy often focuses on male characters, which does get old eventually.

Edit: And no I don't use women I admire in real life for inspiration. My wife would be seriously pissed off if I pretended to play with a doll of her that I can control.

My first character will be a male mage, but I'll have a female one eventually, so ... (and this works the other way around anyways)

I would be really surprised if the NPCs in this game would feel so realistic I'd consider their outer or inner attributes characteristics that speak for or against marrying them like one would think of in real life.

Looks are obviously noticeable, no idea who I'll pick for that. Will depend on the character I play as, I guess. The rest ... will random NPCs actually have personalities that go beyond good/evil? Maybe friendly/reserved, but that's not really detailed enough.

Chances are, if such plays any role in this game, I'll be relying more on ingame benefits unless someone is totally out of the question, of course. I don't even know yet if we can marry anyone, even quest related NPCs with some background story. Maybe it'll just be like Fable where the spouse is basically a doll with gift preferences. Will see.

To (not) answer the question: It'll really depend on the woman character I play as. Not even sure if it'll be someone similar or someone totally different.

I just had this vision of playing a female rogue/assassin type and hooking up with this romantic, tragic intellectual writer type, because the guy would of course incorporate elements of my own personality, only then she ends up soundly thrashing his [censored] for being a total wussy pants! XD

I plan on making a female Nord after I finish my male Breton account.

I like to play masculine women and feminine men.

Edit: My male Breton will most likely get with a female Nord and vice versa.

Why are you singling out men for this question, I wonder? Why not also ask women who play male characters the same question?

Pick one that suits your world view:
1. Because man on man is yucky and girl on girl is hot.
2. Female gamers are a myth.

I prefer female spellcasters everywhere, they just look better in robes/dresses than men. And my first character will be female Breton spellcaster, some sort of battlemage I suppose.

And she will be lisbian, of course. Just as my Shepard, my Gray Warden and my Hawke were. Shepard is not really spellcaster, but I love Jennifer Hale's voice, so...

Second playthrough — cliche male Nord warrior/crusader, straight.

Not sure if I'll do a female character the first time around or even bother with the marriage thing when I do. When I played the first Mass Effect, I did a renegade male Shepard and a paragon female Shepard. The female Shepard romance with Kaiden was very odd for me as a straight male, especially the dialogs where I was supposed to be flirting with him.

Since I haven't been following the marriage threads, what's the verdict on inter-species romance? Can a male Khajiit player romance and marry a female Argonian and vice versa? I shudder to think of the hellish looking offspring such a union would result in.
