For the Republic-A NCR First Person Story

Prolouge:

Overview:

The banner of the Bear marches forward. The Shady Sands has authorized the annexation of Vault City, San Francisco, New Arroyo, and New Reno. The Boneyard was to become a state of the NCR in a year after the bill was passed by the NCR Senate. Soon, scouts sent to go eastward report strange sightings. A city full of lights. A concrete wall across a river. A desert ripe for the NCR. The NCR soon called in a recruitment, people spanning from New Reno to the smallest tribal villages went to recruitment posts to have the chance of going to the Mojave. This story follows a young man from Vault City, http://www.pakusonline.com/UploadedImages/pages/PakUSonline%20-%20Director_Jaffar_Mahmood_on_set_of_Shades_of_Ray.jpg, in his story from a man in the streets, to a trooper in the New Californian Army.

Vault City-April 22, 2265-Morning:

I walked down the street. My girlfriend was waiting for me at the shop. She wasn't a native of the place, which caused for...less than fruitful results. I offered for her to go to Shady Sands to live with my parents, but she refused. I came up to her

"Hello baby!" She said, hugging me. I hugged her back

"I heard the NCR are planning to recruit people. I'm going to sign on." I whispered in her ear.

"What? Your joining the Army?" She exclaimed, she tore off me and looked at me, shocked.

"I am. I need the money. Look, if I can, I'll see if I can have you come with us once we secure the area." I said

"Well, I'd rather stay here. You know, just incase. But if you are, please write me." She said, she hugged me and then walked back into the store. I saw a recruitment post down the street. I walked to it, as did many men and women. I got in line. The man in front of me turned around.

"What's up?" He asked me

"The sky." I joked

"Haha. What you signing on as?" He asked me

"Infantryman." I replied "You?"

"Medic." He said, then turning back to the front. The line moved up. Some men left with smiles on their faces, others clearly pissed off. I soon reached the inside.

"YOU!" I heard a holler "COME HERE!" I ran over to the http://thisiswhyitsvcks.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/r_lee.jpg

"What's your name?" He said, much calmer

"Matthew Fraser!" I said. My body straight at attention

"Age?" He asked me

"Twenty Four!" I replied. I froze, thinking I was too young. He wrote something down on a clipboard and marched me over to a measuring area.

"Stand here." He moved me to a square box. He got a stick out and lined it up with a number

"Six feet, two inches." He whispered. He then walked me over to a weight scale. I stood on it. I read on it:

150

The man smiled.

"Do you have any illnesses we should know about?" He asked

"No. I also don't have any allergies." I replied to him.

"Good, anything else will be covered in Boot Camp, recruit." He said grinning. I was surly smiling. He handed me papers and sent me on my way. I was part of the New Californian Army. I went to my girlfriend's house and knocked on the door. She slid it open and smiled

"Hello Honey!" She beamed

"Anne. They let me in! I'm now in the NCR's Army!" I said with glee. She frowned

"But...but what if you get killed?" She said, worry in her voice

"I'll die for the NCR." I said.

"Look, Matt, I'll stand by your choice, but please, keep safe." She said to me, then pulling something out of her pocket. It was a picture of her. "Keep it, to remind you of me. Write me!"

I smiled as I walked down the steps from her house. I thought about the recruitment.

It was more of a draft, no test, no physical, there's something wrong. Like I care, though. I thought to myself. I brushed it off. I walked back to my house, and entered my home. I laid my pack down and put the recruitment papers on my table. I turned on the radio and listened to the news

"In the News Today from the New Californian Republic! The Three Families in New Reno have upped the ante against each other. Shady Sands demands them to stop, or face the Army's Military Police. A Follower's group is sent to The Boneyard to help people in the city. The Follower's leader says that the NCR should occupy the city before the year is out. In other news, scouts sent by the New Californian Army report a city of lights, a lake the size of Shady Sands, and a concrete wall spanning a river. The President, http://blog.nj.com/hobokennow_impact/2009/05/large_frank-sinatra-movie-by-martin-scorsese.jpg, has declared the NCR will take all necessary action in the area. Mr. Lindén is expected to loose the election in the following months to Aaron Kimball, a prominent war hero. Now, lets play some music. Lets http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2S1I_ien6A!"

I smiled at the song, after it was over, I turned off the radio, turned off the lights, and went up the stairs to bed. I took with me the papers for my draft. I placed it on my bedside table and drifted to sleep.

It was good, for an NCR story. But I won't let my hatred of a faction from a video game stop me from reading it. Looking forward to more :)
