Any help will be appreciated in november if i end up building one. Is it a difficult process? or is it just slapping some parts together?

If you've never done it before, it will be hard. Its like a very expensive jigsaw :/ All sorts of things can go wrong if you don't know what your doing. If you don't know what your doing, then I advise you get a professional.

Edit : where do you live?

Well, I'm basing it on the actual gameplay trailer, which shows actual gameplay, and my 5 years of experience in computers and 11 years experience of gaming.
Of course, we will never know for sure until it is released. Its not really speculation or rumours, I'm basing it on what the gameplay trailer showed us.
I'm just trying to give people a good idea on what the specs are expected to be for skyrim.

"Based on a trailer" is speculation and rumors. Firstly, it's running on console, secondly, it's a compressed internet video, and thirdly we know nothing about the scenario that was filmed in.
While I'm sure 5 years of experience (That's almost as long as skyrim has been in development for!) count for something, they do not give you magical powers to tell how much power a game will need from orchestrated compressed footage of a console game.

However, I suspect your speculation will be accurate, simply because every console port from the last few years has required about the same amount of power and skyrim does not look to be changing this.

I know this is 360 gameplay footage, I have taken higher texture resolution into consideration, as it will be on the PC. I know its a compressed video, but even without 1080p quality, those draw distances are big. And yes I know I'm not a magic physic, as I said this is a rough estimate

@John seing as you live in America, then when you DO buy parts/buy a ready made computer, get it from newegg.com you cannot beat their prices, they have a wide range of products and they have very good customer service.

I see in your sig that you can help about computers.
Well I have a question: Back When I had The White Box I could Run Windows XP On It. Later, after some years I couldn't run it. I had to run Windows 2000. What's the Problem? P.S. I have a Microsoft Office 2000 CD ^_^
P.S.S. Vista is very buggy.. And it means Chicken In My Country's Language!

I realise you are not picking a number out of your head, but you cannot extrapolate enough information out of a gameplay trailer to give an accurate required specification. You can make a good guess, which is what you have done, but you cannot assure accuracy.

You mean a PC with a white case? :brokencomputer: << - like that?

Edit : if so, are you sure you didnt make any hardware changes? Perhaps try formatting the hard drive and trying to install XP again?

My first system built was AMD and I enjoyed it. It was strong, durable and never quit on me. I am Intel i7 now and its a better processor. But I believe my next build is going to be the six core amd.

Hmm,
This computer will take it in atleast high right? Windows Experience = WE :)

CPU | Intel Core i5 650 3.2GHz | WE = 7,0
RAM | 6gb DDR3 1066 MHz ( dont know which company that made them but they are fast) | WE = 7,1
GPU | NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 ( planning to get a new card if needed) | WE = (5,5 Windows Aero) but then under it says ( Gaming Graphics 6,3 )
Hard Drive | 1TB 7200 RPM, Sata-II | WE = 5,9

Tell me if anything is crap.

Its your choice, but imo, going from an I7 to a 6 core amd wont make much difference, because the intel has hyperthreading (8 threads)
AMD's are good for people who dont want to splash out a lot of money though, I always recommend them to the casual gamer.

Edit :
@Left4Candy Thats all fine apart from the graphics card. Wait till we get closer to release to upgrade, but if you do, go for an ATI 5770 or a GTS 450 if you want a nvidia, to match up with the good processor. The processor actually has its own intergrated graphics card, which will help the dedicated graphics card, but I highly doubt that the GT 220 will run it at lowest graphics anyway.

Um... what? Are you playing at 640x640 resolution or something? The GT 220 is like 30-50 quid, there no way it can play new vegas on ultra with mods.... sorry. type dxdiag in the white box just above your windows menu button after you click it, press enter and tell me what dxdiag says. Cause that cant be right.

Well, the 220 is an amazingly powerful card for its class, and while playing Crysis on high at a decent resolution might be a bit of a stretch, it's actually more than capable of gaming - just closer to medium/low than high.

Yeah that should run it max, if not, near max.

@PhYoshi
Well if that card works for you then stick to it. Upgrading a graphics card is like changing one piece in a jigsaw, anyone can do it, so if you cant run skyrim when it releases, you can upgrade then. I'm surprised that the GT 220 can run crysis and stuff though, its not even a gaming card.

The new game engine is a BETTER engine not a more demanding one.. So you might actualy be able to play skyrim better then ob played on the same computer.

If your worried just save up and wait till just before it comes out to go upgrade or buy a new puter. Its realy that simple.

Whether it is better optimized or not, there is no way that oblivions spec's will be close, let alone be more demanding than skyrim. No way, end of.
2nd line. Yes, I know people are worried about their computer when it comes down to skyrim, that was the whole idea of this thread.

@left4candy I guess that explains it. These specs I made on this thread are at 1400x900
So at 1024x1024, yes the GT 220 could probably play skyrim at that low resolution. But... not well.

Edit : Im changing the original post to compensate for those playing at lower resolutions.
