For those that use mods

Just like vanilla Oblivion, Skyrim made need a little "help". :whistling: What type of mods do you look for from the modding community?

I haven't been lucky enough to do mods, but now that I'm getting a suitable gaming computer for myself just for Skyrim, I'll definitely be using some mods. Although not right away, I'll get user made add-ons like quests, areas, weapons, armors, etc. I don't have interest in graphics mods though personally.

The only kinds of mods I would be interested in are draw distance extenders and texture replacers. I want to experience the gameplay mechanics the way Bethesda intentionally set them up, and most mods that try to add new content usually feel out of place to me

i will be getting a gaming computer before i get Skyrim, and by the time i can get both, there will be plenty of mods to pick from. i will pick content mods and if there is a modded feature i like, i might get it as well.

Draw distance (unless developers so it right and allows setting extremely high view distance for PC) and ability to wield dual shields :)

Gonna need to play through it first to see what might need tweaking. Plus, it'll take at least that long for interesting mods to come out (the initial first-few-weeks stuff is either really simple or really dumb.)

Going by previous games, I will most likely use, at some point: additional hair / eyes / skins; additional clothes & armor ; a UI tweaker.... beyond that, it depends. Like, does it need a body replacer (and/or does someone make a decent one), does it need mesh fixes, does it need FPS improvements, does it need annoying bugs fixed faster than Beth will fix em, etc, etc, etc.

I will make 2 small mods as soon as the Creation Kit is released:

1. Increase all merchant prices by 5x

2. Raise perk limit from level 50 to level 70

If there is no "survival/hardcoe" mode in Skyrim, then I will install a survival mod for hunger, thirst, starvation, hypothermia, disease and infection penalties as soon as someone makes one.

Most likely an UI mod, if Oblivion has taught as anything its that Beth doesn't give a rats ass about the PC UI. As for myself, I plan on making a small cave home mainly to acquaint myself with the differences from the CS to the CK, and well because cave homes are awesome.

None, not even if I was getting it for the PC I wouldn't use mods, because mods made me appreciate oblivion less in vanilla.

The face models look much better this time, but you can't beat better eyes and hair mods that give you many more options. I like some of the house mods as well, as long as it isn't filled with a lot of stuff I won't use or unbalances the game.

I'll do one of two play-throughs without mods. Perhaps more. Then maybe after a few months when the high quality mods comes out I will mod it heavily (proabably).

When the good graphical enhancement mods come out, I plan on getting that. But atleast one playthrough unmodded.

Always first - bald mod. Making a bald toon always looks ridiculous in ES games until someone mods it to look better.

After that, texture mods and anything that improves the look of the game (draw distance, denser environments i.e. grass, bushes, trees, etc.).

Then game balancing, bug fixing mods as they pop up and prove useful.

Lastly are the mods which introduce new houses, weapons, armor, races, etc.

Graphic ones primarly so my 580 will break some sweat :D

And after a few playthroughs any mods that improve/alter/fix the minor things Beth missed

And ultimialy the unofficial official patch when Beth moves on leaving things unfixed (hopefully not but..ya)

Based on past gaming history, I tend to like those mods that enhance appearance, such as clothing, armor, hair, eyes, colors, etc.

I am also very fond of certain style house/building type mods.

I also like companion mods like the ones Lady Emma, and others make.

Those are my favorites, although I may check out and use others.

Ones like Nehrim, most definately.

FIrst play-through is vanilla.
Then I see what I think should have been, but isn't. e.g.: At Home Alchemy or Spell Delete in Oblivion.
Little things that add to immersion, like Portable Campsite.
Of course if there is something major that alters the game for the better, I will add it in, like OOO.

There's really no way to tell until I've played it and seen what flaws need to be fixed. I usually wait for the second playthrough to fix those, though.

The one thing that does come to mind, though, might be the UI, depending on just how different the PC UI is from the console version.

Would you replace them with some other creature?

If so, which creature?

How about unicorns?

Giant mudcrabs?

Need to play it some before I decide what I need to mod in and what I'd like to mod in (the 2 being different, 1st would be mechanics I hate, flawed level-scaling whatever, the 2nd being cosmetic changes and extra content).

I might try some mods but only after i have completed the game first in Vanilla! Saying that ,if some one were to improve the graphics and every one is raving about a perticular graphics mod,i might not be able to resist that.Gameplay wise i will deffo leave until i have completed the game first.

I haven't played Skyrim yet, so I can't be sure what sort of mods I'll want to get for it, but even without playing it I think that something equivalent to Darker Dungeons will be needed if the screenshots we've seen are any indication. Of course, what mods I get first also depend on what modx come out first, most likely, the first mods will be reletively simple things, though given time, I expect my Skyrim to undergo as large a transformation as Morrowind and Oblivion have for me, but that will take time, we won't have things like OOO or Morrowind Graphics Extender or Tamriel Rebuilt within the first few weeks of release.
