For Those Wanting "Remasters"

Extra Credits had a https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZdiPdn-JWY on Remastered games. I like their approach and the points (both good and bad) they made.

It seems every week or so we get a "Remaster , please!" post. I have mixed feelings on that, as do the Extra Credits folks. The cost effectiveness seems to go down quickly the older a game gets. Many games are already playable in HD on last gen consoles.

They use Final Fantasy VII as an excellent example whu this would not be very viable. It would basically have to be a whole new game with all new assets.

I can understand why some console players want older Bethesda games "updated", like Morrowind or FO1 and 2. But if you think about it, that is a LOT of work! Morrowind on PC can be played in HD, thanks to a great modding community. That does not help the console players, I know.

What do you think? Are Remasters something you feel would be good, in most cases? Some cases? Any cases?

Doesn't help the combat system though :(

I know there are mods that improve the combat, there's an oblivion style spellcasting mod, and various other ones, but the combat and especially the hit detection is still pretty bad.

Yes, a remaster should not change the gameplay. That would be a "remake", in my opinion
